Race teams are ready to shift into high gear and head towards Marshalltown.

MARSHALLTOWN, IA (Mar 24) - The Marshalltown Speedway is set to host the first race in the state as the annual Frostbuster will take place on Friday, April 4th. On the card for the night will be a $750 to win and $100 to start feature for IMCA Modifieds, $400 to win for IMCA Stock Cars, $200 to win for IMCA Hobby Stocks and Sport Mods, and $200 to win for the Dwarf Cars. The pit gates open at 5:00, grandstands at 5:30, hot laps at 6:45, and race time is 7:30.

Track work is already underway as the staff prepares to host several races teams from around the Midwest. Early indications look to see around 140 race teams from five different states take to the high banks on the 4th. Some new sponsors have come on board this season that will help in making improvements, raising the purse, and making the additional end of the year  points funds possible. The Junction Bar and Grille has come on board as the title sponsor for the IMCA Hobby Stocks, Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel will be the title sponsor for the IMCA Modifieds and also help with a lap/leader board, Days Inn of Marshalltown will be the title sponsor of the King of the Hill events, and Aarons is back on board as the title sponsor of the IMCA Stock Cars. It is with the help of these sponsors and many others that help in making Marshalltown one of the best tracks around.

There are other things in store for the 2008 season as well. Members of the Pizza Ranch Racing Rascals will get bus rides after hot laps each Friday night. This will be a great way for the new generation to get a good up close and personal look at the speedway! The biggest news will be that the bleacher project is well in the works as funds are being generated right now.

We have the buy a brick fundraiser in conjunction with the Central Iowa Fair Board and it looks like construction will begin in September. The spring weather has not been good for construction and the project is tentatively set to take place in between season championship and the 2nd. annual Havoc on The Highbanks. This will be a great time for the fans to see the bleachers and enjoy them for a weekend of racing before we head into the 2009 racing season. We would like to wish everyone the best of luck in 2008 and look forward to a fantastic racing season! For further information on the Marshalltown Speedway, please check out the website at
