Murphy Brother's win Arnold Motor Supply Mid-Season Championships
After a week off it was back to racing at the high-banked Marshalltown
Speedway.
MARSHALLTOWN, IA (June 17, 2011) - The
O'Reilly Auto Parts
Mod Litestook the track for their Feature. After the intial start being
called back it was Tim Hennigar
taking the lead.
Josh May took the lead from Hennigar on lap 4 and never looked
back. Tonight made 6 Feature wins for May, Hennigar finished 2nd followed
by Mike Morrill, James May and Joel Huggins.
Next up was the Toby K's Hideaway IMCA Hoby Stock Feature. Rookie Brice
Udelhoven would lead the first lap but Gary Pfantz tooke the lead. Michael
Murphy made a move for the lead and went on to victory. Kevin Fee was 2nd,
Pfantz 3rd, Eric Knutson 4th and Josh Saunders 5th.
Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Sport Mods feature was next. DJ Robinson would take
the early race lead but Scott Davis took the lead. Davis would go on to the
win. Cayden Carter started 12th and finished 2nd, Carter Vandenberg 3rd,
Fred Leytham 4th and Jake Strayer 5th.
In
the Mike's Hard Lemonade IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature, we saw why this
class is known as the "Class To Tough To Tame". The Feautre went
green-to-checkered. Trevor Titus lead early, but Jay Schmidt would make the
pass for the lead on lap 7. Trent Murphy took the lead on lap 14 and went on
to join his younger brother Michael in victory lane. Jay Schmidt 2nd, Damon
Murty 3rd, Curt Hook 4th and Jeff Wollam 5th.
The final feature of the night was the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel IMCA
Modifieds 20 lap feature. Todd Shute would lead the first 9 laps but Jon
Snyder would use the high line and make the pass for the lead. Snyder would
start to pull away but then 2 cautions would come out, first on lap 14 for
Andrew Kinser losing the handle and then on lap 18 for Todd Shute in turn
1. Snyder would not let the cautions bother him. Adam Larson, Ronn Lauritzen,
Jimmy Gustin and Josh Truman rounded out the top 5.
Next Friday night will
be Clement Heating and Cooling Night. Fans can get into the granstands for
$5.00 if they say "Clement Heating and Cooling" at the ticket booth. We
will have the Spectator
Eliminator
Races also. This is you and your street car racing "one on one" with
another spectator on the rack. Hot Laps at 6:45pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
June 28th will be the Toby K's 1k. This is part of Iowa Speedweek and will
be the second stop for the IMCA Stock Car Shoot-Out. Stock Cars and
SportMods will race for $1,000.00 to winn. Also racing will be IMCA Hobby
Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts.
