USRA LATE MODELS LAUNCH INAUGURAL SEASON THIS SATURDAY AT
MEMPHIS
by: Jeff Nun
MEMPHIS, Mo. (April 25) -- A new era will begin this Saturday, April 28, as the
Pepsi Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Mo., hosts the inaugural event for
the USRA Late Models. The 2007 season will mark the first time that the
high-powered Late Model division will compete under the USRA banner.
Saturday's race will be the first of 17 events comprising this year's USRA Late
Model schedule, and a big field of heavy-hitters are expected to challenge for
the bragging rights and first-ever entry into the USRA Late Model record books.
A top prize of $3,000 awaits the winner of Saturday's main event, with a minimum
of $250 to start the feature race. All 2007 headline events will carry a top
prize of $3,000 to win, while events co-headlined by the popular O’Reilly USMTS
Modifieds will pay $2,000 to win for both the USRA Late Models and the O’Reilly
USMTS Modifieds.
Also running Saturday will be the first points race for USRA Modifieds, with the
USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks, Outlaw Hobbys and Hornets
continuing to battle for USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series
national and track points.
Gates will open at 4 p.m., with hot laps at 6 and racing getting underway at
6:30.
