The night started off with the 15 lap USRA B-Modified feature, with Jared Fuller
and Jack Evans Jr. leading the field to the drop of the green flag. Fuller took
advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1, but Jim Gillenwater
would slip under him on lap 2 to take over the top spot. Gillenwater then went
on to lead the final 13 laps, in a caution free race, to pick up his first win
of 2007. Evans Jr. held on to finish in second, Tony Dunker came from tenth to
finish in third, Ron York was fourth, with Jeff Waterman coming home in fifth.
Dunker and Evans Jr. each picked up a heat race win.
Up next was the 15 lap USRA Hobby Stock feature, with Bob Lynch and Tim Kraber
drawing the front row for the event. On the drop of the green, Kraber would jump
out into the lead and then held it until lap 9, when Bill Gibson, who started
sixth, edged him out at the line for the top spot. Gibson then held off Kraber
over the final six laps to claim his first win of the season at the speedway.
Mike Shelton came home in third, Lynch held on to finish fourth, with Mike
Leffler rounding out the top 5. Heat race winners were Kraber and Gibson.
J.D. Murphy and Chuck Fullenkamp lead the field to the green in the 10 lap
Hornet feature, but it was fourth place starter Luke Davidson grabbing the top
spot on lap 1. Davidson then held off Fullenkamp over the 10 laps to pick up his
first win of 2007. CJ Loring finished in third, Andrew Hustead was fourth, with
Murphy recovering from a lap 1 roll over to come back to finish in fifth.
Hustead picked up the heat race win.
The 18 lap USRA Modified feature had David Snyder and Bob Dale on the front row,
with Dale jumping out into the lead on the drop of the green flag. Dale would
hold the top spot until lap 9, when Michael Long, who came from the rear after a
lap 5 spin, charged by for the lead. Long then went on the lead the final 9 laps
to claim his first win of the season at Memphis. Martin Bennett came home
second, Dale held on to finish in third, Ryan Meyer came from tenth to finish in
fourth, with Scott Dickey, who started eleventh, rounding out the top five. Heat
race winners were Jody Wood and Long.
Brandon Symmonds and Brian Howerton drew the front row for the 15 lap Outlaw
Hobby Stock feature, with Symmonds grabbing the lead on lap 1. Symmonds survived
a couple of restarts to hold on to pick up his first win of the season. Jim
Lynch came from ninth to finish in second, Jeff Soper was third, Jim Oliver Jr.
came home fourth, with Josh Soper coming back after a lap 4 spin to round out
the top 5. Josh and Jeff Soper each picked up a heat race win.
The best feature of the night was saved for last, as the 15 lap USRA Stock Cars
took to the speedway. Michael Browning and Mike Brown led the field to the green
flag, with Browning jumping out front on lap 1. Browning would hold the top spot
for one lap, as Matt Greiner edged him at the line by inches to lead lap 2. Colt
Mather would move up to challenge Greiner for the lead on lap 5, with Mather
grabbing the top spot on lap 6. Greiner and Mather ran the next two laps
side-by-side, before Greiner grabbed the advantage on lap 9. Greiner then held
off a last lap attempt by Mather to claim his second consecutive win. Browning
held on for third, Mark Holt was fourth, with Troy Alexander coming home in
fifth. Greiner made a sweep of the night by winning the heat race.
