Long and Gillenwater Claim Back-to-Back Features at the Pepsi 
Scotland County Speedway

MEMPHIS, MO (June 16) - RaceMart Night at the Pepsi Scotland County Speedway in 
Memphis, MO was hot, both air temperature and on track action. Michael Long 
(USRA Modifieds) and Jim Gillenwater (USRA B-Modifieds) picked up back-to-back 
feature wins, while Matt Greiner (USRA Stock Cars), Bill Gibson (USRA Hobby 
Stocks), Brandon Symmonds (Outlaw Hobby Stocks) and Codey Phillips (Hornets) 
claimed feature wins in there divisions.
The first feature of the night was the 8 lap Hornets, with Luke Davidson taking 
the lead on the drop of the green flag. Davidson, Codey Phillips and Andrew 
Hustead battle two and three wide for the lead for the first five laps. But 
Davidson would be able to hold them off until lap 7, when Phillips slipped under 
him for the lead. Phillips then held off Davidson on the final lap to pick up 
his first win of the season at Memphis. Hustead held on for third, Bobby 
McCartney was fourth, with Jim Garrett coming home in fifth. Hustead picked up 
the heat race win.
Up next was the 15 lap Outlaw Hobby Stock feature. Rodger Dresden jumped out 
front on lap 1 and then worked to hold off Brandon Symmonds and Justin Hamelton. 
Dresden would hold them off until lap 13, when Symmonds slipped under him to 
grab the top spot. Symmonds then held off Dresden over the final two laps to 
claim the win. Hamelton came home in third, Tim Pettibone was fourth, with Jim 
Lynch rounding out the top 5. Heat race winners were Josh Soper and Symmonds.
Ron York took advantage of his front row start to move out front on the drop of 
the green flag in the 15 lap USRA B-Modified feature. While York was out front, 
Wyatt Lantz and Jim Gillenwater, who started 12th, were battling to wrestle the 
lead away from York. York was able to hold off Gillenwater until lap 8, when he 
slipped under him for the lead. Gillenwater then pulled away over the final 7 
laps to pick up his second consecutive win at the speedway. Lantz came home in 
second, York held on for third, Jeff Waterman was fourth, with Dustin Boling 
coming home in fifth. Waterman and York took home the heat race wins.
The Stock Car feature may have been short on cars, but the feature was one of 
the best of the night, with two and three wide action going on for all 12 laps. 
Mark Holt edged Bert McDaniel out at the line by inches to claim the lead on lap 
1, with Matt Greiner, Troy Alexander and Michael Browning running three wide for 
third. Greiner worked under Holt to cross the stripe on lap 5 side-by-side, with 
Alexander and Browing working closely behind. Finally on lap 7, Greiner would 
emerge as the leader and then held off Alexander over the final five laps to 
claim his third win of the season at Memphis. Browning came home in third, Kiel 
Morton was fourth, with McDaniel rounding out the top 5. The heat race also went 
to Greiner.
Bill Gibson took advantage of his front row start to jump out front on lap 1 of 
the USRA Hobby Stock feature. Gibson would go on to lead all 15 laps to pick up 
his third win of the season at the speedway. Jimmy Hayes would finish second, 
Tim Kraber was third, Bob Lynch was fourth, with Jason McDaniel coming home in 
fifth. Donavan Nunnikhoven and McDaniel took home the heat race wins.
The final feature of the night was the 20 lap USRA Modifieds, with Dennis 
Elliott and Tony Fraise on the front row. Fraise jumped out front on the drop of 
the green, with Elliott and Bob Dale close behind in second and third. Fraise 
continued to lead the field, as Michael Long, who started tenth, and Martin 
Bennett, who started ninth, worked there way towards the front. Long and Bennett 
would run side-by-side for five laps after a lap 7 caution, as they tried to 
work past Fraise for the lead. Fraise would hold them off until lap 15, when 
Long worked past him on the top of the speedway. Long then went on to lead the 
final 5 laps to claim his second consecutive win at Memphis. Bennett would come 
in second, Fraise held on for third, Elliott came home in fourth, with Dale 
holding on for fifth. Heat race winners were Long and Elliott.
Coming up at the Pepsi Scotland County Speedway will be the Fair Race on 
Thursday, June 21st. The USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series battle 
for national and track points will continue in be the USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock 
Cars, USRA B-Modifieds, USRA Hobby Stocks and Outlaw Hobby Stocks. There will be 
no racing on Saturday, June 23rd. But when racing returns on June 30th with the 
MLRA Late Models invading the Pepsi Scotland County Speedway.
