by Bill Nelson

SPRING VALLEY, MN (July 31, 2010) - It was announced as each driver took their victory lane photo that Randy and Patti Eastvold of Hanson Tire in LeRoy was adding $100.00 to the check of each feature winner.  The Eastvold's continued to show their appreciation to the drivers by adding to the winner's check for the second week in a row.  Their generosity is greatly appreciated by all of the drivers, fans and Deer Creek Speedway as they support the speedway and the racing action.

Andy Altenburg jumped out to the early lead in the Altenburg Construction WISSOTA Late Model feature event from the pole position.  Jerry Bloom quickly moved past Joe Ludemann to take over second.  Doug Herrick quickly joined Bloom as they battled for second ahead of Brad Waits.  With four completed Bloom still held on to a slight edge for second as Altenburg slowly started to pull away from the field.  With five down Keith Foss joined Waits as they pressured Herrick for the third spot racing three wide off corner two, they make contact each getting loose but able to continue forward.  As they slow Mike Prochnow used it to his advantage and moved past Foss for fifth.  With nine complete Prochnow was pressuring Waits for fourth while Herrick again was trying to work past Bloom.  Prochnow took over fourth and on the next lap Herrick completed his pass for second.  A  caution flew with twelve complete putting the field on Altenburg's bumper again.    Altenburg again led on the restart while they went four wide for position behind him with Herrick regaining control of second and Waits into third.  Prochnow and Bloom were still racing for fourth on the next lap.  Herrick worked to the inside rear corner of Altenburg through the corners but Altenburg had the preferred line coming out of the corners holding onto the lead.  with eighteen down Kelly Anderson and Bloom were now battling for fifth.  Anderson took over the spot on lap twenty while Prochnow powered under Waits to take over third.  Over the final three laps Herrick was able to get alongside and in front of Altenburg through the corners but by the time they got on the straightaway's Altenburg was able to use the high line momentum to take him back in the lead.  The touched out of four coming to the checkers with Altenburg winning by .029 of a second at the line in a photo finish.  It was Altenburg's first win at Deer Creek Speedway in the WISSOTA Late Model division that his business sponsors.  A very popular win with the drivers and fans at the speedway.

Tim Donlinger jumped out front in the EZ Fabricating USRA Modified feature event and that is all that you can say about Donlinger leading the race as he pulled away from the field and left them.  However behind Donlinger there were some very hard fought and entertaining battles.  Bobby Swanson sat in second early with Jay Ihrke and Josh Angst racing for third.  Angst held onto the spot as Steve Wetzstein was working the bottom and now started to race Ihrke for fourth.  From sixth on back the field was two and three wide for positions as the yellow waved on lap nine.  On the restart Wetzstein powered out of two and took over the second spot.  On lap ten Angst kept it flying on the high side to take over the second spot.  Mike Sorensen, Ihrke, Jason Cummins and Todd Scharkey were all racing for fifth at the time behind Swanson.  Sorensen took the spot briefly but Scharkey and Ihrke shot back by on the next lap.  With eighteen complete Donlinger was way out front as Cummins now worked on Ihrke for fifth.  Cummins took the spot on lap twenty as the final five laps ticked away.  Donlinger came home with the win followed by Angst and Wetzstein in the top three.

Brian Fetting, Kevin Hager and Tony Bloom exited turn two three wide for the lead at the start of the US ARMY WISSOTA Super Stock feature event.  bloom took the spot as lap one was completed.  Nick Wranek worked past Hager for third and on lap two and then moved past Fetting to take over second.    With three down Jeff Brauer began his charge to the front racing Fetting for third.  Brauer took the spot and with five down say in third while Ryan Siegle moved past Fetting for fourth.  Eight completed and Wranek was pressuring Bloom up front for the lead while Brauer sat behind them.  With nine down Brauer found his hole and moved under Wranek to take over second.  Two laps later Brauer and Bloom were side by side for the lead while Cole Queensland took over the fourth spot from Siegle.  fifteen down and Brauer led with Queensland now racing Wranek for the third spot.  Queensland moved into third and also worked under Bloom for the second spot with seventeen complete.  Bloom held off Wranek to take home the third spot as the checkers flew.

Jared Boumeester jumped out front in the Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature event with Paul Neisius in second early  A restart with one completed saw Bryan Hernandez move under Boumeester to take the lead with Ric Fynbo quickly following through to second.    Brandon Davis and Boumeester raced for third while Jerry Young worked into the top five.  The yellow waved again on lap second and Davis moved into second on the restart.  On lap eight Dave moved alongside of Hernandez and took over the spot with nine down.  Another restart with twelve down saw Davis leading with Hernandez and Boumeester racing for second.  Boumeester took the spot with seventeen laps completed relegating Hernandez to third.  Fynbo and Neisius rounded out the top five as the checkers flew.

Shaun Walski led out of turn two in the Hinz Trucking USRA B-Modified division  Brain Mahlstedt sat in second  with Troy Hovey trying to take the spot away from him.  Hovey pushed up out of four with Mahlstedt slowing and Brandon hare and Parker Hale blasting by into second and third.  The first caution flew on lap three.  On the restart Walski continued to lead with Hare in second.  Kylie Kath worked into fourth and started to race Hale for the third spot.  Another restart with seven completed saw Hare leading as Walski was docked for jumping the last restart.  Walski didn't let it bother him and moved into second spot right away. With fourteen down Kath worked under Hale for third spot.  A green, white and checker dash to the finish saw hare leading with Walski second.  Walski jumped to the top of the speedway and caught hare on the backstretch.  They ran through three and four side by side and at the line it was Walski with his first feature win at Deer Creek Speedway.

Jordan Raterman jumped out front in the BP WISSOTA Street Stock feature event with Dan Holland and JA Zvorak racing for second.  Holland and Zvorak made contact both racing for the same spot with Zvorak getting turned into the back stretch wall ending his night.  Donny Ganz and Troy Voth were also involved in the wreck with Ganz going pit side with damage.  on the restart Danny Hanson moved below Raterman to take over the top spot.  Karl Hewitt Jr. followed through to second while Raterman and Voth raced for third.  Behind them Fred Prudoehl, Mike Blowers and Holland were three wide for fifth.  With four down Voth moved past Hewitt Jr. for the second spot  Raterman and Prudoehl rounded out the top five behind Hewitt Jr.  Hanson cruised home for the win followed by Voth and Hewitt Jr.,  In post race tech Hewitt Jr., was Disqualified moving Raterman into third, Prudoehl and Holland rounded out the top five.

Earlier in the day in the Truck country Slingshots Jackson Koster led early in the Junior division on the Button Buck Speedway.  Lexi Schott worked into second with Derek Clement in third.  A restart with two down saw Koster hold onto the lead with Schott in second.  Dylan Buckland started to pressure Clement for third.  A restart on lap seven saw Ryan Wetzstein work into the top five.  Clement lost the handle of his machine collecting the Buckland machine with both cars slowing briefly allowing Wetzstein to move into third.  Everyone kept moving with Koster taking home the win followed by Schott, Wetzstein, Clement and Buckland.

In the Pee-Wee division Jackson Hale jumped out front with Garrett Koster in second.  Jim Chisholm quickly worked into third.  On lap two Chisholm moved under Koster for the second spot with Spencer Ihrke quickly following through into the third spot as Koster started to slow.  Dakota Kelly took advantage of the slowing Koster machine moving into the fourth spot behind Ihrke.  Hale took home the win followed by Chisholm, and Ihrke

Jeremy Paulson has been on a roll in the Senior division and raced Lexi Schott into turn one.  Schott took the lead with Paulson in second.  With three down Paulson was all over the back bumper of Schott and took his line high in three and cut back under Schott exiting turn four to take over the lead.  The front duo slowly pulled away from the field while Ryan Wetzstein, Dave Olson and Brady Keefe raced for the third spot.  Wetzstein took the spot while Keefe made a late race pass for the fourth spot ahead of Olson.  Paulson took home the win followed by Schott.
