by Bill Nelson

SPRING VALLEY, MN (August 21, 2010) - Nick Kramer led the high powered Altenburg Construction WISSOTA Late Models out of turn two with Kelly Anderson, Roger Torgerson and Lance Matthees racing three wide for second.  Anderson took the lead as lap one was completed.  On lap two Brad Waits and Mike Prochnow raced into second and third while Matthees sat in fourth.  With six completed Matthees and Prochnow were racing for third while Waits reeled in Anderson up front.  Eight completed saw Waits on Anderson's bumper while Nick Herrick worked on Joe Ludemann for fifth.  Ten complete and Waits drove in under Anderson entering three to take over the lead.  Herrick worked into the top five on lap twelve while the top four cars pull away from the pack.  Fifteen down and Matthees was working on Prochnow for third.  Two laps later Anderson was again battling for the lead with Waits while Matthees and Prochnow were side by side for third.  Twenty completed and lap traffic was coming into play allowing Matthees to take over third.  Up front it was Waits taking home his third straight win followed by Anderson and Matthees.

Jay Ihrke was a rocket early on in the EZ Fabricating USRA Modified feature event with AJ Wiste and Tom Brink battling for second early on.  Darwyn Karau and Mike Sorensen were inside the top five early on.  With four down Sorensen was racing with Wiste for the second spot while Nate Caruth and Karau were racing for fourth.  Sorensen took over second with Caruth now racing Wiste for third.  Behind Wiste Jason Cummins and Todd Scharkey were racing for fifth and then made it a three wide race for fourth as they caught and passed Wiste for the spot.  Ten down and Ihrke had pulled out to a full straight away lead when Lance Hofer and Dan Bohr made contact in turn one with Hofer flipping his mount bringing out the caution.  During the caution period Ihrke pulled to the infield with low oil pressure.  On the restart Sorensen and Scharkey raced out of turn two for the lead.  Cummins worked  under Caruth for third as Sorensen held onto the point.  Josh Angst worked into fourth as the caution flew again.  On the restart with thirteen down Sorensen led with Scharkey in second.  Scharkey pressured Sorensen again and as they raced they slid up the track slightly with Cummins moving under Scharkey for second.  On lap sixteen Cummins took over the lead with Darrin Walch working into the top five now.  Cummins had the bottom working tonight and on another restart on lap nineteen he took control of the race.  Scharkey slid up in front of Sorensen for second.  Twenty one complete and Angst, Walch and Sorensen were three wide for third with Angst taking the spot.  Angst pressured Scharkey over the last couple laps for second but Scharkey held onto the spot behind Cummins.

Another dandy BP WISSOTA Street Stock feature again tonight as Mike Blowers and Dan Bork raced for the top spot for two laps.    Bork took the lead on lap two with Blowers glued to his inside rear quarter panel.  Donny Ganz and Troy Voth raced for third with Danny Hanson sitting in fifth on lap three.  A caution at the completion of lap three saw Bork break down as he exited turn two on the restart which handed the lead to Blowers.  Voth used the restart to move into second with Hanson and Ganz racing for third. Behind them AJ Zvorak and Ryan Goergen raced for fifth. With six down Hanson was now working on Voth for the second spot and too it on the next lap.  A caution with nine down saw Hanson take the lead on the restart with Blowers ring on his inside for second.  Ganz and Zvorak raced past Voth for the third but Voth quickly worked back into the position.  Hanson held onto the spot all the way to the checkers with Blowers on his inside rear quarter panel to the finish.

Tyler Groenedyk jumped out front of the Hinz Trucking USRA B-Modified feature with Colter Duetsch in second.  Jacob Bleess sat in third with his mother in the flag stand waving the green at the start of the race.  With two down Brandon Hare worked into third followed by Bleess and Parker Hale.  Hale and Bleess battled for fourth while Shaun Walski sat behind them in fifth.    The top three were pulling away from the field as a caution flew with eight complete.  On the restart Groenedyk continued to lead the way with hare moving into second.  Bleess held of the charge of Hale and continued to hold onto the fourth spot while Kylie Kath and Scott Demmer raced with Hale for fifth.  Kath eventually took the spot.  Up front it was all Groenedyk as he took home the win followed by Hare and Duetsch.

Also on the card for the day were the 600 mini-mods.  Todd Klees and Nathan Kilwine raced into turn one for the lead.  Out of turn two Kilwine got squirrely and left the speedway bringing out the caution.  ON the restart Klees took the lead with Jon VanMInsel working into second ahead of Mike Schubert.  Ben Sprung was in fourth ahead of Dave Kilwine.  Klees cruised home to the win as the checkers flew.
