Despite Mother Nature, Big River Sand Drags To Open Saturday
By JEFF MILLS

BONNE TERRE, Mo. (April 17, 2006) - Despite all that Mother Nature could throw during the off-season, Big River Sand Drags will open this Saturday night (April 22nd) on schedule.

"We've really worked hard to get things ready," said track owner Jason Waller. "Hopefully we won't have any more setbacks and everything will go alright."

Recently a major storm that moved through the Bonne Terre area had totally destroyed the track's operations tower and either damaged or destroyed the equipment stored inside. Since then a new temporary building has been brought in to replace the tower and operate the computer system.

Gates will open at 3 p.m. each week with registration taking place from 3:30 - 6 p.m., Pro and Super Pro ATV practice will be held from 4 - 4:30 p.m., ATV-1 and Junior ATV practice from 4:30 - 5 p.m., Buggies and Vehicle ET practice from 5 - 5:15 p.m., Competition Eliminator and Open 4x4 practice from 5:15 - 5:45 p.m., and then there will be an open practice session from 5:45 - 6:30 p.m. A mandatory drivers meeting will be held at 6:45 with racing beginning at 7 p.m.
