Powers Wins Special Modified Event at St. Francois County Raceway

FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (June 3, 2006) - Robert Powers of Campbell, Mo. drove his #02 Modified to victory lane Saturday night at the St. Francois County Raceway during the special $1,000 to win event. In the feature it was Powers holding off a large and talented field with Kasey Burch of Farmington taking second place, Kenny Kennedy of Farmington third, Brent Thompson of Farmington fourth and Dave Shepard fifth. They were followed by Jeremy Greenwalt, Matt Eaton, Mike Francis, Billy Smith and Adam Parmeley.

Shepard won the first heat race with Eaton second and Mike Francis third. Thompson won the second heat with Burch second and Leo Kieffer third. Powers won the third heat with Kennedy second and Erik Edgar third. Greenwalt won the fourth heat with Parmely second and Chris Boyd third. Smith won the "B" main with Alan Conners second and Tom Vogt third.

In the Sprint car feature, 20-year-old Brandon Wimmer of Fairmount, IN., filling in for Tommy Worley Jr. in the #97 car, captured the feature with Timmy Montgomery of Fredericktown second, Joey Montgomery of Fredericktown third, Jimmy Hurley of Springfield, Ill. fourth and Bryan Matthews of Park Hills fifth. They were followed by Tom Dickerman, Keith Burch, Steve Short, A.J. Bruns, and Jason Hunt.

Tim Montgomery won the first heat with Wimmer second and Burch third. Bruns won the second heat with Wde Seiler second and Matthews third. Hurley won the third heat with Jason Keith second and Tiffany Wyzard third. Bruns won the trophy dash with Wimmer second and Tim Montgomery third.

In the 600cc Multi class, Derek King was the feature winner with Jimmy Stearns second, Clint Collins third, Jimmy Bridgeman fourth and Joey Boyd fifth. They were followed by Brian Steele, Rodney Williams, Jason McBride, Keith Steele and Jason Cooper.

Stearns won the first heat with Jeremy Boyer second and Cooper third. Collins won the second heat with Ryan Kempin second and Bridgeman third. Brian Steele won the third heat with Boyd second and King third.

In the Pure Street class, Michael Abney of Belgrade again raced away with the feature victory with Chris Boyd second, Mike Savage third, Travis Goodman fourth and Dave Wofford fifth. They were followed by Rooster Griffin, Bill Skaggs, Chuck Tilly, Keith Kennon and Josh Skaggs.

Wofford won the first heat race (his first ever in a Pure Street) with Abney second, Savage third and Boyd fourth. Griffin won the second heat with Kennon second and Goodman third.
