Hendrix wins pole for Factory Stock Nationals
by Dusty Luthy

LEBANON, MO. (Aug. 18, 2006) - The qualifying night of the Lebanon I-44 Speedway Factory Stock Fall Nationals saw 30 Factory Stocks check in for the $2,000 to-win purse.

The top four from each heat race advanced to two qualifying dashes. The top two drivers from each heat lined up and raced for the top eight starting spots in tonight's main feature. The second two drivers in each heat race also qualified for the next eight spots in the main feature. The race will pay $400 to start.

David Hendrix won his heat and won the top-eight qualifying dash, winning the pole for the night's feature. He will be followed by Scott Simmons, John Turner and Tim Brown.

Tonight, for the second day of the Fall Nationals race, two B main features will be held with the Factory Stocks, with the top two from each heat advancing to the main feature.

Pro-4s also raced Friday night, bringing with them their highest season car count. Fifteen cars checked in to race. Lonnie Muhlbauer won the feature after he passed pole-starter Randy Galloway on lap six. Galloway finished second, followed by John Ryan, Don Lacy and Rod Baird. Lacy started the feature tailback.

The Bomber class also raced, with the drivers starting how they finished in the heats instead of the normal season point average. Jason Huey won his heat race, started the feature on the pole and also won the feature. Todd McIntyre started the feature on the outside pole and came in second.

In the Rookie class, Josh Lewis finished the heat race first, but took second to the feature winner Adam Brown. Justin Dame took a spin in turns three and four, flipping his car several times before it caught on fire. Dame was able to exit his car safely.

For some fun, the track added Powder Puff and Mechanic's races. Shauna Brown won the Powder Puff, with Staci Brown coming in second. Dusty Luthy ran third, followed by Kim Johnson.

The Mechanic's race was wide open, with nine cars racing. Ray Brown started on the pole and kept the lead until lap eight when he was passed by Darrell Kelly, who won the feature. Jacob Fry ran third, followed by Bill Schoen for fourth.

The conclusion of the Factory Stock Fall Nationals will include racing with Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks, Bombers and Rookies.
