Lebanon Midway Holds Final Practice. Ready For Modified Madness

Lebanon, Mo. (April 2, 2006) -The final practice sessions were held Friday night under the lights as the Lebanon Midway Speedway is ready for the upcoming 2006 Racing season on the 3/8ths mile clay oval.

Over 60 race teams checked into the pits and found the surface different from last Sat.

In sessions and news, defending Modified Champion Jamie Ragland of Lebanon brought out his new Modified and was turning some very quick laps on the newly designed surface. Last seasons points runner-up Eric Hudson came out with his car from last season and was turning quick laps along with Lebanon's Tony Jackson Jr in his new Modified.

With Modified Madness to open the 2006 season, several of the Friday night regulars were taking advantage of the track time to get dialed in for the opening high paying event.

The new Fastrak Late models were turning some good laps as Lebanon's Ron Myers seemed to have a good handle on his car. Jim Wheat of Eldon was getting in a good groove until the driveshaft broke ending his practice runs. Shelby Thacker and Mike Berger were impressive, but Dan Zimmerly had the roughest night of all as he jumped the cushion in turn 4 and smacked the wall hard ending his night. The former Motorcycle rider was unhurt, but said he made a rookie mistake. Wesley Briggs made the move from Mini-Stocks to the Fastrak Late Models with a beautiful car, he made several practice laps and was looking more impressive every time out.

Factory Stock drivers were making the most of the practice in getting ready for the April 21&22 nd 5000 to win show. Chuck Pederson, points runner-up Glen Dismang,Chris Ratterree and several others were turning many laps as last seasons dominator Tim Brown was trying several different set-ups.

Camdenton veteran Kenny Carroll was dialing his car in and look strong also. rumors have defending champion Randy Berry maybe hooking-up a ride for the Factory Special.

The Winged Sprint Cars showed a small preview of the season as over 14 showed-up with many new faces checking in to battle the veterans. Clint Todd's night ended with problems on the backstretch with problems.

The Super Stock Class had Ben Newell arriving late, but turning many strong laps along with Travis Hill,JC Newell and others.
The Bombers again showed a strong showing as Brian Monnahan debuted his new car along with Shawn Winfrey.

Lebanon's Danny Atkingson brought out his MLRA Super Late Model and turned several laps in getting ready for the June 16th Special event.

Racing starts on Friday Night with qualifying heats for the 2nd annual Modified Madness, a pole dash for the winners and a 25 lap Qualifying feature while the Bombers run a full show. Gates open at 5 with racing on Friday at 8.Sat Night gates open at 5 with racing at 7:30 with qualifying heats for the Modifieds last chance race and the 50 lapper paying $6000 to win and $600 to start. Winged Sprintcar will be running on Sat Night a full show with a $500 to win,$100 to start, while the Bombers will run for $200 to win and 35 to start on Friday Night.
