Harris Pulls Off Late Win In Fastrak Midway/Jackson Top Mod Main

LEBANON, Mo. (May 12, 2006) - With 100 Race teams in the pits and special events planned, racing action continued Friday Night at the Lebanon Midway Speedway as area drivers were greeted with a smooth racing surface as close action topped the action.

In the Fastrak LateModel feature,Mike Berger grabbed the early lead with Jason Otto close behind.Berger started to checkout,but close racing behind including Rustin Miller,Steve Beach,Ron Myers and point leader Jared Harris were in a close battle.

While Berger was holding on to the top spot,point leader Harris was making a late race charge and closed-up on Berger on lap 10.The caution flew closing the field up as Harris and Berger were battling up front as Beach,Myers and Miller battled for 3rd place.On lap 14,Harris grabbed the top groove and gathered his 2nd points win in the LateModel class with Berger,Beach,Myers,and Miller following closely.

SuperStock action saw rookie Travis Hill jump to the early lead as Rick Brown,Ben Newell and JC Newell battling for position.Om lap 5,Ben Newell grabbed 2nd place and set his sights on leader Hill.Co-points leader Donnie Gennings was trying to make-up ground deep in the pack.Newell grabbed the top spot on lap 8 and held on to grab win number 2 of the season while Hill,Brown,JC Newell and Gennings completed the top 5.

The Modified feature would see last seasons SuperStock champion Tony Jackson Jr. grab the lead from his outside front row spot to lead all 20 laps while a tight battle behind included point leader James Hartman,Jason Russell,Eric Hudson and last seasons champion Jamie Ragland swapping positions within the top 5.While Jackson enjoyed a smooth line up front,Hartman fought repeated challanged from Russell and Hudson for the runner-up spot as they finish that way at the stripe.

The Winged Sprints took to the Midway as young Josh Fisher jumped from his front row outside starting spot to grab the early lead.with Mike Larson in tow.Point leader Joe Todd was moving forward along with Clint Todd as the battle for 2nd place was between those 3 drivers.On lap 10,defending Sprint Champion Eric todd and front running Doug Fry got together in turn 1 as Frys night ended early.With Fisher out in front,Clint Todd began to apply pressure as the young guns battled for the lead.A lap 17 caution bunched the field up as C.Todd applied pressure to leader Fisher,but joe Todd snuck around his son for 2nd place as Fisher pulled away late to grab his 1st win at the Midway this season.Joe todd,Clint todd,Mike larson and Steve Lawrence completed the top 5.

The Bombers again provided plenty of action as Joe Francis grabbed the early lead with Shawn Winfrey close behind with Larry Franklin close in 3rd place.Attrition took out contender Mike Piercey along with Brian Warner and rookie Derrik Brown early in the feature.Up front the lead 3 of Francis,Winfrey and Franklin were battling until lap 14 of the 15 lap feature as action got wild with Francis making contact in the pack sending Chris Johnson up to the wall as Franklin drove under Winfrey,but Winfrey held the middle line to grab his 3rd win of the season followed closely by Franklin,Jennifer Crouch,Jack Hamer and Francis at the stripe.

The FactoryStock feature had Aaron Gustin grab the opening lead with James Ellis and Joe Davenport close behind.Last seasons winningest driver Tim Brown played the waiting game and grabbed control around lap 6 to record his 1st feature win of the season followed closely by Ellis,Glen Dismang,Mike Shaddy and early leader Gustin.

In the Special Project Graduation event,schools Joel E. Barber,Lebanon,Plato,Hartville and Buffalo had representation as those 5 went to battle.A late entry from the MidwaySpeedway added to the fun as 1,000 was up to the winning car.Heartland Antique Mall in Lebanon added $500 more to the event and the rules stated the if Midway won the 10 lap event,then the money would be split evenly to the 5 schools.Joel E.Barber grabbed the early lead with the Plato Car running a close second followed by Buffalo,Hartville,Lebanon and Midway.Om lap 3,Lebanon fell back in the pack as Joel E Barber from close by in Lebanon held control followed by Plato with midway moving forward to 3rd drove by owner Harold Armstrong as he closed up with only 2 laps to go.Wayne Blattell driving for Joel E.Barber held on to the lead with 1 to go as Midway's Car driven by owner Harold Armstrong grabbed the lead in turn 2 on the bottom of the track and held off Joel E.Barber for the win,but the winning trophy went to Barber's driver as the 5 scholls split the $1500 prize for the Project Graduations.

The ladies powederpuff had over 25 entries and after 4 heats and a feature event it wasTraci Simpson claiming the top spot.
Next Friday regular race show as the track prepares for the 1st ever Fastrak Missouri Triple Crown Challange as over 30 entries are expected on May 25th.
