6 New Champions Crowned At LebanonMidway With Tight Action

LEBANON, MO. (Sept. 15, 2006) - The chase for the points title came to an end Friday Night at the Lebanon Midway Speedway as over 95 race teams checked-in to compete on the final points night of 2006 with tight racing highlighting the events.

The SuperStocks took to the Midway with Veteran JC Newell grabbing the early lead as point leader Ben Newell stayed glued to his bumper with Donnie Gennings close behind.This trio would show 3 wide racing the entire distance of the feature.JC would see Ben go to the top on lap 6 and challange for the top spot allowing Donnie Gennings to go downstairs and grab 2nd place on lap 9.These 3 cars moved around and showed 3 abreast racing with JC Newell leading the entire distance in claiming the feature win followed by Ben Newell,Donnie Gennings,Travis Hill,and Randy Hill at the stripe with Ben Newell claiming the points title.

The Mighty Modifieds rolled out with 17 strong ready to challange for 20 laps as point leader Tony Jackson Jr and Eric Hudson starting up front.As the green fell 3 wide action delevoped quickly as Jackson grabbed the top spot with defending champion Jamie Ragland close behind.The red quickly waved as Craig Rush came to a stop in turn 3 and Don Luna came to a stop quickly.Both drivers night ended in the pits as Eric Hudson had a tire go down sending him to the pits.On the restart,Ragland shot to the low groove as Jackson and Jack Jones showed 3 wide racing with Ragland taking the early lead as Wayne Graybeal closed-up quickly.Ragland was setting a very quick pace with Jackson and Graybeal battling for 2nd as Eric Hudson was coming quickly after starting 15 on the grid and moved-up to 6th by lap 8.With Ragland putting the car wherever he wanted and leaving the field,Jackson and Graybeal were battling hard for the runner-up spot with Jack Jones running 4th.The events 2 caution waved on lap 16 as Brian Brown's car came to a stop in turn 3 closing everyone up.On the restart,Ragland again powered ahead as Jackson and Graybeal fought for 2nd place as Jack Jones,Eric Hudson and Brian Schutt battled for 4th along with John Fellers.As the checkered flew,Ragland grabbed his 6th victory of the season as Jackson,Graybeal,Jones and Hudson made-up the top 5.

"This is the best car I have ever had,"exclaimed Ragland of his Racemart Z-4 from Memphis,Mo."It runs strong on both heavy and dry tracks.It seems as if I do any changes it reacts better than I can hope for.We are really looking forward to the Fall Brawl next weekend as I expect a strong field of Modified for 2,000 to win.It's going to be tougher than our regular Friday Night show."

Jackson grabed the season title and was happy with his runner-up spot in his new Hoffman Chassis."We can't complain as this is the 1st race at the Midway for this car.Next week with 2,000 up for grabs it will be tough with alot of good drivers here.I think a couple of small changes will make us even faster.

The FactoryStocks provided a full field and more as 24 cars came down to the green with point leader James Ellis grabbing the early lead with Mike Shaddy close behind.Some tight 3 wide racing highlighted the 20 lap feature as Ellis was looking for his 1st win of the season.Troy White,Bobby Ratterree and Shaddy showed why the class is so popular with 3 abreast racing.On lap 5 the 1st yellow waved as Joe Sanford came to a stop in turn 4.On the restart,White challanged Ellis for the top spot and grabbed the lead on lap 7 as Dylan Keeper had charged from 13 on the grid to challange for a top 5 run while all eyes were on Steve James.James who was using both high and low grooves charged from 15th to 5th when the motor expired on lap 7 sending him to the infield.Up front,White who won last weeks feature was holding Ellis at bay for the top spot while Booby Ratterree,Shaddy,and Keeper were battling for 3rd place.On lap 14,Ratterree made the pass around Ellis to grab 2nd and set his sights on leader White.Derrick Peterson who won the B feature had moved into contention in the top 10 and was closing quickly.Up front,White and Ratterree were battling for the top spot,ut White would use the lapped traffic to his advantage to claim his 3rd win of the season with Ratterree,early leader Ellis,Dylan Keeper and Shaddy in the top 5 as Ellis grabbed the season title.

The Winged Sprint car feature had the tigh point battle as defending champion Eric Todd only 11 points behin as both brothers started up front with Clint grabbing the early lead as Eric was moving to the top side.The 1st yellow waved on lap 5 as 4th place running Scott Wedelstadt got sideways and looped in turn 2.On the restart,Eric made a hard charge at Clint,ut Clint used the middle groove strong as rookie Kyle Bellm moved around Joe Todd to take 3rd place while all eyes were 2 drivers coming from the rear of the field as Jonathan Cornell and JP compton were side by side charging through the field to challange within the top 5 by lap 8 of the 16 car grid.Rookie Jeremy Hazel who has been on fire late this season had moved into 5th and was challanging Joe Todd for position.With the long green run,leader Clint todd had started to catch lapped traffic as Kyle Bellm had reeled in the leader.The race final yellow waved on lap 18 as Eric Todd looped the car after contact in turn 2 sending him to the rear as Bellm and Clint todd were going to decide the feature event.On the restart,Bellm looked inside of Clint,but clint got a good bite out of turn 2 to pull away and grab his 7th feature wi of the season with Bellm,Joe Todd,Hazel and Jonathan Cornell in the top 5 as Clint also grabbed the season title.

In the Bomber feature,Billy Waters took to the early lead,but on lap 3 point leader Shawn Winfrey took over after some tight racing to record his 6th victory of the season after a hard battle with Mike Piercy as Waters,Jennifer Crouch and Rex McCroskey grabbed the top 5 honors.

Point leader Ron Myers grabbed the opening lead in the Fastrak LateModel feature,but would find Rustin Miller charging hard on the final 3 laps was the duo went side-by-sdie with Myers just nipping Miller for the win with Jason Otto and Wesley Briggs following.

Next week will be the season ending 2 day Coca-Cola Fall Brawl featuring the Show-Me Racin Series LateModels.Friday night will be qualifying heats for ll classes along with the pole dashes and a 100 lap Enduro to end the night with the winner taking home $1,000.Sat Night will be All the B Features and A features as over $45,000 will be distributed.
