Leslie essary Grabs Midway Fall Brawl/Boney Bad To The Bone
by: Rob Breault

LEBANON, MO. (Oct. 7, 2006) - The Lebanon Midway Speedway ended the 2006 season Sat Night with the 2nd night of theCoca-Cola Fall Brawl with 147 raceteams ready to battle for over $50,000 in prize money.

The Show-Me Racin Series LateModels came out in full force and after a capacity crowd saluted the 4 wide action settled in with Kenny Hartwigsen
getting the jump on pole setter Ken Patterson and powering to the opening lead as Jeremy Kelley,Kevin Henson,Chris Hawkins all battling for position
with 2 wide racing for position.Hartwigsen was setting a fast pace on the smooth oval as Jim Fulp began to make his charge and battle for position. The
1st yellow waved as B feature winner Jimmy Greenway came to a halt out of turn 4 bringing out the yellow and bunching-up the field. On the
restart,Hartwigsen again jumped to the lead with Hawkins,Kelley,Fulp and Henson running 2-3 wide in tight action as Leslie Essary was starting to
make his pressence known along with Mike Hailman. On lap 9,the caution waved as Kelley got sideways while battling for position ending his strong run.On
the attempted restart,Jim Fulp had leader Hartwigsen in his sights until problems forced the hard charger to the pits ending his great run.On the
restart,Leslie Essary,Chris Hawkins,Kevin Henson and Rick Lebow were slicing into the lead as Leslie Had both the top groove and bottom groove working
strong has he set his sights on the top spot around lap 16 as a new player was coming strong in the name of Conner Ward.

With Leslie taking control,Henson,Lebow,Hawkins,Hartwigsen and Ward were batling as Series point leader Ken Essary was making a late race surge. While
Lesslie was moving through traffic,Conner Ward and Rick Lebow were swapping spots with Hawkins and Henson as the Farmer was joining the fun. With 3 to
go,lapped traffic was causing leader Leslie to slow-up abit as Ward and Lebow were closing the gap quickly and had gotten to within 4 car lengths
until Lesslie found clear track and shot to the win followed closely by Ward,Lebow,Ken essary and Henson in the top 5.

The Modifieds provided the fans some fast paced action as 2005 champion Jamie Ragland and Justin Boney brought the field down to the start with boney jumping to the top groove quickly with Ragland folowing closely behind along with James McMillian,Matt Johnson and James Hartman. On lap 2,Matt Johnson got crossed-up in turn 2 bringing out the yellow as Wayne Graybeal and Chris Johnson also stopped. On the double file restart,Bob Test got caught from behind ending his night after being in the mid pack.On the restart,Boney again jumped to the top groove as Ragland tried downstairs and then back to the top as McMillian,Curt Rackers, and Dean Willie were battling along with Hartman. On lap 7,2006 champion Tony Jackson Je began his charge from his 10th starting spot and battled through the pack along with Eric Turner who started 14th.Boney was showing the capacity crowd all about running the high groove and 3-wheeling it all the way around as Ragland stayed close behind as the lead duo were getting into lapped traffic. After a yellow for a single car spin,The double file restart provided great racing in the pack as again Boney went flying into turn 1 with Ragland staying close behind as Jackson had charged into the 3rd place spot as Turner,Rackers,Justin Neuman,McMillian and Eric Hudson were making some bold moves for position along with B feature winner Erik Maggard and B transfer driver Steve Muilenburg.Up front Boney set the quick pace as Jackson battled Ragland and took over the runner-up spot up in the high groove while Eric Turner was making alot of ground on the bottom.Heading with 4 to go in the feature,Boney had caught lapped traffic and Jackson and Ragland were coming quickly closing to 3 car lengths until Boney found the opening in turn 4 up high and grabbed the $2000 to win prize money with Jackson,Ragland,Turner, Curt Rackers in the top 5 at the end.

"The track was fast tonight and so smooth, really in good shape"Said Boney."The Modified drivers had watched the FactoryStock wild feature and we all thought we are going to show this capacity crowd wheel to wheel action. This place is great for Modified Racing and the show was so good for everyone.Runner-up Jackson thought he might have a shot at the win when boney hit lapped traffic."It was tough out there tonight, but once we got going my car was working better and better. When Jamie Ragland and I got to racing each other,we were catching Boney, but in clear traffic he was fast. The lapped traffic towards the end allowed us to get close and with maybe a couple of more laps we might have, but I'm real happy with 2nd."

The FactoryStock feature felt the effect of the Full Moon being the 1st feature out as the 24 car field took the green with Veteran Bobby Maggard Jr jumping to the early lead with outside pole setter Kris Jackson following close behind followed by LOS champion Dale Berry,Eric Turner and Ted Welschmeyer and Dave Bentlage. The Fuul moon cause wrecks, spills, thrills and rollovers and provided a great overall finish. With Maggard leading the way until the final 4 lap as Ted Welschmeyer and Dave Bentlage made bold moves to the top and bottom side in a near photo finish was Maggard making his 1st start on the Midway as Bentlage just came-up about 3 cars short in grabbing the runner-up spot with Welschmeyer,Eric Turner(recovering from an earlier spin coming from 24th) and Dylan Keeper rounded out the top 5 with 14 car still on the Wild feature lead lap.

The SuperStocks provided great action as veteran JC Newell grabbed the early lead over track champion Ben Newell as Donnie Gennings quickly moved into contention along with Travis Hill and defending champion Rick Brown. With JC setting a quick pace in the 20 lapper, action was 2-3 wide back in the pack.Josh Woody began to make his charge around lap 10 and was making-up ground. With a 5 car blanket racing for the win,a late caution for single car spins would double-up the field as JC Newell had lead 18 of the 20 laps and took the lead on the restart as the white flag flew with Travis Hill looking on the inside and Josh Woody on the outside while Gennings was going both high and low.Coming for the checkered flag out of turn 4,Josh Woody slid to the top of the track and narrowly nipped Newell at the line with Newell,Hill,Gennings and Ben Newell crossing behind.

The WingedSprintCar Feature would be all Eric Todd as the 2005 track champion jumped from his pole spot to lead all 20 laps as 2006 champion Clint Todd made a late surge in the final 2 lap to claim the runner-up spot followed by Joe Todd,Kyle Bellm, and JP Compton at the stripe. The bombers provided close action, but it was Rex McCroskey grabbing the early lead and never looking back in pocketing the win followed by Mike Piercy,Landon Johnson,Shawn Winfrey, and Jon Muilenburg at the stripe.
