Lebanon Midway Gearing-Up For Season Opening Modified Madness

LEBANON, MO. (Feb. 10, 2007) - Easter Weekend April 6th&7th will find several Modified drivers looking for the $6,000 Golden Egg at the Lebanon Midway Speedway with the running of the 3rd Annual Modified Madness.

Despite the severe Ice storms that hit the Lebanon Area, the damage at the Midway was very small with mostly wires and tree limb damage with no damage done to the actual racing surface.

Newton, ILL Hotshot Chad "The King" Kinder has won the last 2 seasons but this season will find something a little different as the track tire rule will call for the American Racer G60 KK704 or the Hoosier IMCA Stamped G60 along with a durometer reading of 50 on the right rear tire.
Grooving and siping will be allowed.

"The last 2 seasons we have allowed the Hoosier A40 in this event, but not this season as almost all of the tracks within our area and outlying areas don't run them. "quoted announcer Ron Williams.

"The talent that the Modified drivers have are outstanding and the Midway has produced some of the best racing for this class bar none and we expect another talented field for the $6,000 to win $600 to start 50 lap feature."

At the recent Bodees trade show and auction several of Central Missouri's drivers stopped by to not only say hello, but to tell them Easter Weekend is already marked on there calendars.

Last season Veteran Randy "The Z-Man" Zimmerman lead until problems took him to the infield as he and Kinder were producing some outstanding racing while Last Chance event winner Scott Weber came from deep in the field after starting 18th to finish 3rd behind winner Kinder and former UMP National Champion Mike Harrison.

Friday night will feature qualifying heats for the Modifieds as each heat winner will lock into the Sat A Main and redraw for the pole dash to set the front rows. Drivers will then run a qualifying feature to finish locking 14 drivers from Friday Night as action will also feature Super stocks and Bombers as an Easter Egg Hunt for kid's 10 and under will be at Intermission.

Sat Night will see the Modifieds run the final rounds of heat races and a last chance race to set the 26 car field. The final 2 spots will be saved for track provisional as the top 2 drivers from the Midway point standings who have yet to make the show will start 25th and 26th as the Winged 305 Sprint Cars will also highlight Sat Night Racing.

Friday Night action will see the gates opening at 5 with hot laps starting at 7 and racing at 8PM while Sat Night action will move-up racing times half an hour.
Entry Fee for the Modified Madness will be $125 and pit passes will be $30 each night.
