by: Chuck Stowe

ODESSA, MO (July 6) – A small fireworks display, drivers returning to Victory Lane and several fantastic, fan friendly displays provided by Toyota Trucks, highlighted another great night of racing on the Dirt Track at I-70 Speedway. Props go out to I-70 Speedway owner Brad McDonald and his crew for preparing another great race track. Mother Nature first brought us 11 inches of rain last week and then gave us 2 more inches this week along with 90 plus degree days.

In the IMCA Modified division, Steven Glenn in his #26ss made a return to Victory Lane after coming up short of the top spot for the past few weeks. Following Steven to the finish line was the # 19 of P.J. Conger, 22y Yancy Shepard, 44g Randy Grimmett, 93s Chad Shaw, 09jr Jeff Assell, 54kfc Paul Snyder, f16 Blaine Nolker and the 12c of Merril Crose.

In the IMCA Stock Car division, the 63b of Mike Nichols also returned to Victory Lane after having mechanical problems the last time he was at the Dirt Track. Taking the checkered flag behind Mike was the current points leader in the Stock Car class, x9 Brad Whitney, 86 Gary Foxworthy, 12 Russell Walter, 65x Thomas Roberts, 20x Jon Boller Jr., 22a Alvie Christofferson, 3 Brian Houghton, 11t Bennie Turner, 94j Josh Steele, 97 Travis Taylor, s20 Gene Stigall, and the #63d Dale Eaton. The 50 of Curtis was unable to make the call for the feature event.

The 20x of Jon Boller Jr. was the victor in the IMCA SportMod division. Jon beat current point’s leader Matt Marrant in the #69, 5 Kevin Jones, 24 David Truskett, 23 Chad Walker, 70 David Willey, 77 John Miller and the 32p of Jeremy Pittenbarger.

In the Sport Compact division, Jason Marrant driving his #33 made his way to Victory Lane in convincing fashion. Following Jason was the #71 of Justin Marrant, 4e Joey Evans, 7 David Edwards, 10 Joe Willcoxson and the 13k of Nikolos Ford.

In the Caribbean Cowboy Barbeque Sauce, Farm Truck division, the #4 of Brandon Box returned to Victory Lane followed by the 99 of Charles Ball and the 911 of Richard Scott.

Also at the I-70 speedway Dirt Track was two IMCA Crate Models. This class is a new class for IMCA and is a very affordable way for a young aspiring driver to enter late Model racing. Demonstrating the new class was the # 63 Crate Model of Dale Eaton and the 5k of Jason Keim.

Next up on the Dirt Track at I-70 will be “Two for One Saturday” featuring the Show-Me Vintage Cars.
