Drivers Find “Five Dollar Friday” the 13th Lucky at I-70
ODESSA, MO (July 13) - Friday the 13th proved to be a lucky night for Dirt Track
racing at I-70 Speedway. Four of the five feature winners where in Victory Lane
for the fist time, in 2007, at the D shaped Dirt Track. It was another great
night of door to door action featuring the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA
SportMods, Sport Compacts and the Farm Trucks brought to you by Caribbean Cowboy
Barbeque Sauce.
In the IMCA Modified division, you could have thrown a blanket over the top five
cars for most of their Feature. Three abreast and sometime five wide racing had
the crowed on their feet for twenty laps. In the end it was Yancy Shepard in his
22y Modified who took the checkered flag first, winning his first Feature Event
this season at I-70. Right on Yancy’s tail was the #93s of Chad Shaw, the 20t of
Mike Tanner, 19 driven by P.J. Conger, and the 58 of Terry Van Trump. Behind Van
Trump was the # 26ss of Steven Glenn, #8 Jeremy Simmons, 09jr. Jeff Assel, and
the 12c Merrill Crose. In a great display of sportsmanship, Ronnie Hartford
loaned our points leader, Steven Glenn, his car for the Feature. Steven lost his
transmission in his heat race and started at the rear of the feature, in the
borrowed car.
It was another first time Feature winner in the IMCA Stock Car division as Gary
Foxworthy on his # 86 bested the field. Following Gary was the #x9 of current
point’s leader Brad Whitney, the 12 of Russell Walter and the 97 of Travis
Taylor. Again the Stock Cars put on a great show with Whitney challenging
Foxworthy for the lead on several occasions.
The #24 of David Truskett was another first timer in Victory Lane as he led the
pack of IMCA SportMods to the checkered flag. Behind and challenging Truskett
was the 69 of current point’s leader Matt Marrant, the 70 of David Willey and
the 31z of Wade Brown.
In the Sport Compacts, a familiar was back in Victory Lane. The 62j of Jessica
Clemons was first across the finish line followed by the 32 of Allen Guthrie,
and first time driver, Shawn Frey in his #27. Behind Frey was the 4bt of Brad
Barlow, 10 of Joe Willcoxson, the 71 of Justin Marrant and the 33 of Jason
Marrant.
In the Caribbean Cowboy Barbeque Sauce “Farm Truck” class, Tyler Wachs was a
first time Feature winner driving his #9 Farm Truck. Following Tyler was the 99
of Charles Ball, 911 Richard Scott and the #3 of Paul Harpham.
As an added bonus, Race fans where treated to an “Australian Pursuit Race” at
the end of the evening. Matt Marrant was the victor in his SportMod followed by
Chad Shaw in his Modified, Gary Foxworthy and Travis Taylor in their Stock Cars.
Thanks you guys for the added fun and excitement.
