Cool Night, Hot Racing for “Five Dollar Friday”

ODESSA, MO (Sept 14) – With temperatures on the cool side, racing was hotter than ever on the Dirt Track at I-70 Speedway. “I have been down here many times this season and I have yet to have a bad track to race on”, commented Iowa Stock Car driver Mike Nichols. “I have really had a good time racing here, this is really a neat race track and I hope to be able to race several more times here before the season is over”. Where comments from former I-70 Speedway Late Model Champion turned dirt Modified driver, Rod Cordon.

Well wishes go out from all of the I-70 Speedway staff to Dirt Track Flagman David Russell and Dirt Track Fire and Safety official Larry Cooper. David had a crash last Saturday night in his Dash Car resulting in shoulder injuries and Larry had a fall at work, this Friday, resulting in a break just below his knee. Get Well Soon Guys!

In Stock Car action, the # 63b, Mike Nichols inched his way closer to another IMCA National Championship by winning tonight’s IMCA Stock Car feature. Chasing Nichols across the Finish Line was the 417 of Kevin Anderson, followed by the # 11t of Bennie Turner, the 86 of Gary Foxworthy, #50 Curtis Morrison, the 12 of Russell Walter, # 714 Jason Anderson, the x9 of Brad Whitney, #65x Blake Peeler, the 20 of Thomas Roberts, #97 Travis Taylor and the 95 of Brian Audette.

In the IMCA SportMods, Chris Wright piloting his #66 Made his first appearance in Victory Lane by leading the field to the checkered flag. Challenging Wright was the 57 of Royce Stanley Jr., followed by #24 David Truskett, the 70 of David Willey, #00 Chris Whalen, the 69 of Matt Marrant, #57h Joe Holaday, the 25 of Scotty Grenier, #56 Kim Keith and the 43 of Cody Graham.

Sport Compact fans saw a familiar face in Victory Lane as Jessica Clemons in her #62j stretches her points led over fellow competitors. Following Clemons for second was the 6 of David Walker. Behind Walker was the #71 Justin Marrant, the G1 of John Keller, #33x Adrian Pearson, the 33 of Jason Marrant, #4t Tammy Folvarcik, the C4 of Connie Sue Moss, #13k Nikolos Ford, the 7w of Gary Walters, #10 Joe Willcoxson and the 62 of Wade Sherman.

In the IMCA Modified division, P.J. Conger in his #19 won his fist Modified Feature event and it was a very well deserved win. Right behind Conger was the 58 of Terry Van Trump, followed by the #17 Rod Cordon, the 20t of Mike Tanner, #26ss Steven Glenn, the 44g Randy Grimmett, # 12 Jeremiah Saling, the 8 of Jeremy Simmons, #73 Truman Asher and the #54 Lynn Starry.

Always action packed is the Farm Truck class. Coming from the rear of the field to win another Farm Truck Feature event was Melford Simpson in his #10 Chevy pickup. Second was the 9 of Tyler Wachs, followed by the #911 Richard Scott, the 119 of Bryan Schwartz, #11 John Nelson, the 1 of Tom Corum and the #2 of Michael McMechan.

Dirt Track racing action returns to the I-70 Speedway next Saturday night as “Five Dollar Friday” kicks off the “World Cup Weekend”. Featured classes will include; the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods, Sport Compacts and Farm Trucks. Next Saturday will conclude “Five Dollar Friday” nights and the first season of points racing on the new Dirt Track at I-70 Speedway. Pit Gates will open at 5:00; Admission Gates will open at 6:00. Hot Laps will begin at 7:30 with Season Championship racing at 8:15. As always all admission tickets on Friday night are only $5.00 with children 5 and under admitted for free.
