Race Brothers Show-Me Racin Series awards banquet 

 

BRANSON, MO (Nov. 4) - On Sunday afternoon November 4th, drivers, sponsors, family, and friends of the Race Brothers Show-Me Racin Series gathered at Playtime Pizza in Branson, MO for the season-ending awards ceremony.  A big crowd was on hand including special guests from Race Brothers, the title sponsor for 2007, Roger and Pam Deforest, and Mark & Julie Eaton.  Chad Anderson of Hoosier Racing Tires also made the trip from Springfield, IL to attend the banquet.

 

The awards kicked off with a presentation to Camp Barnabas, the official charity of the Race Brothers Show-Me Racin Series.  It was a very special presentation by Kody Essary, Camp Barnabas attendee.  Camp Barnabas founders Paul & Cyndy Teas were present for the donation.   Kody presented Mr. & Mrs. Teas with $600 collected at the races over the summer.

 

 

Tracks that hosted the Race Brothers Show-Me Racin Series were next on the list - Lebanon Midway Speedway with Harold Armstrong & Ronnie Williams accepting.  Ronnie Williams spoke, congratulated the four different winners at that track in 2007, and looked forward to next year. 

 

Russell & Valerie Hand of North Central Arkansas Speedway in Flippin, AR was also in attendance. 

 

Other tracks the series competed at in 2007 included: West Siloam Speedway – Siloam Springs, AR – Rick & Julie Magnuson & Trish Bates. Springfield Raceway – Springfield, MO – Jerry Hoffman & Doug Bland. West Plains Motor Speedway – West Plains, MO - Don & Billie Gibson. Nevada Raceway – Nevada, MO – Tina Scism. Tri-State Speedway – Pocola, OK  - Sonny Davis. Monett Speedway – Monett, MO  - Randy Mooneyham & Humboldt Speedway – Humboldt, KS - Ron & Rhenda Whitworth.

The first award for the drivers kicked off with the presentation of the “Show-Me Fan Favorite.”  This was organized by Linda Barton. The driver was chosen by fan vote.  Linda & her staff prepare a program for each Show-Me race.  A “fan favorite” ballot is in each program.  Fans write in their vote, and drop them in the ballot box at the Race Brothers Show-Me Series t-shirt stand.  When Linda tallied all the votes, Kenny Hartwigsen was award the “2007 Race Brothers Show-Me Fan Favorite.”  He received a plaque along with a $50 gift certificate to Ron’s Racing Collectibles and a $50 gift certificate to Barton’s Service Center in Aurora. 

 

 

The Sportsmanship award is a very special award to be given.  In 2007 Gary Chambers was the recipient of the Sportsmanship award.  Gary received an etched mirror for this honor. 

 

 

In order to be eligible for the point fund money and prizes drivers needed to compete in 75% of the Show-Me events.  This season saw 20 different drivers run at least 15 of 21 shows. 

 

The driver’s awards kicked off with 20th position. Gary Chambers – Gary received $1022 in cash, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, a GRT Rookie of the Year Jacket Contender Jacket, and a gift certificate to Lightfoot graphics, for a total of $1477 in cash and contingency prizes.

 

19th was Wesley Briggs.  He received $1065 in cash, ½ off a Powertrain Industries DriveShaft, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, and a GRT Rookie of the Year contender jacket, for a total of $1220.

 

Ken Patterson finished in the 18th position.  He received $1107 cash, a Frankland Racing Supply Drive Flange, and a Fuel Jug for a total of $1227.

 

17th was Ron Johnson.  He received $1150 in cash, the Fuel Jug, and ½ off a Powertrain Industries DriveShaft.  Total cash and contingency prizes: $1245.

 

16th was Chuck Comer. He was awarded $1192 in cash, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, & ½ off a Powertrain Industries DriveShaft.  Total $1287.  Chuck took his first win this season in a Show-Me event held at West Plains Motor Speedway.

 

Frank Tindle ended the season in 15th.  He received $1235 cash, a Fuel Jug, a free Driveshaft from the Powertrain Industries, and a $100 gift certificate from Custom Cams.  Total - $1505 in cash in contingency prizes.

 

In 14th was Roger Wilson. He received $1277 cash, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, a Free Driveshaft from Powertrain Industries, and a gift certificate from Custom Cams.  Roger was also the recipient of the Midwest Sheet Metal Hard Luck Award.  For this, he received 3 sheets of metal from Midwest Sheet Metal. For a total of $1757.  Roger took a win this season at Springfield Raceway.

 

In 13th was Tyler Milner.  He received $1320 cash, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, and a Free Driveshaft from Powertrain Industries and a gift certificate from Custom Cams.  Tyler was also the recipient of the Midwest Sheet Metal Hard Luck Award.  Tyler’s total was $1800.

 

Justin Wells was 12th in the final point standings and received $1362 in cash, the Fuel Jug, a Free Driveshaft from Powertrain Industries, and a gift certificate from Custom Cams.  He had 3 wins this season.  Total cash and contingency prizes: $1470

 

11th was Darrin Barton.  He received $1575 cash, a Nosepiece and headlight decal kit from Performance Bodies, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, and a gift certificate from Custom Cams.  His total was $1895.

 

Kenny Hartwigsen was 10th.  He was awarded $1787 in cash, a Nosepiece and headlight decal kit from Performance Bodies, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, and a $100 gift certificate from Custom Cams.  Kenny’s total was $ $2107.

 

In 9th was Jarrod Hilton.  He received $2000 cash, a Nosepiece and headlight decal kit from Performance Bodies, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, and a gift certificate from Custom Cams for a total of $2320.  Jarrod had one feature win this season.

 

Justin Asplin was the Rookie of the Year for 2007.  He received $2637 in cash.  This was $2212 for his 8th place position, and $425 for Rookie of the Year.  For his Rookie of the Year win he received 5 sheets of sheet metal from Midwest Sheet Metal, a set of Schoenfeld Headers and a Hoosier jacket. For his finishing position he received a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, a Gift Certificate from Custom Cam, and a nosepiece and headlight decal kit from Performance Bodies.  His total cash and contingency prizes were $3567.

 

Kevin Henson received $2424 in cash. He was also awarded 1 DuraLite Beadlock wheel, 1 non-bead lock DuraLite Wheel, as well as a Fuel Jug, and a gift certificate from Custom Cams.  Total $2894

 

Next was Conner Ward, he received  $2637 in cash, a DuraLite Beadlock wheel, 1 non-bead lock DuraLite Wheel, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug,  and a gift certificate from Custom Cams.  Conner’s total was $3107.  Conner had 1 feature win this season at Lebanon Midway Speedway.

 

In 5th was Jeremy Kelley.  He was awarded $2850 in cash.  BsB Manufacturing chooses the position that receives their award, and this year, 5th was chosen. For this, Jeremy receives $1100 worth of BSB products --  anything BsB manufactures such as birdcages, pinion mounts, slider bars, j-bars, etc. Jeremy was also the recipient of a Lightfoot graphics gift certificate, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, and a Gift Certificate from Custom Cam.  In addition, Jeremy was awarded ½ off new GRT frame as the highest finishing car not currently running a GRT.  This made a whopping total of $5870 for Jeremy Kelley in 5th place.

 

Rick Lebow was 4th, he received $3062 cash, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, a Gift Certificate from Custom Cam, a Peterson Fluid Systems Oil tank, and a Frankland Racing Products Drive Flange.  This was a $3832 total for cash and contingency prizes.  Rick took his first win for the Race Brothers Show-Me Racin Series this year at Nevada Raceway in June.

 

In 3rd was Jim Fulp.  He received $3487 cash, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, a Gift Certificate from Custom Cam, a Set of Valve covers from Gary’s Used Engine Parts, a set of Axles from Frankland Racing Supply, as well as a $100 gift certificate from Frankland Racing Supply.  Jim’s total in cash and contingency prizes was $4432.   Jim had 2 wins this season.

 

In 2nd was Ken Essary.  He was awarded $3912 in cash.  Ken also received a set of HyperCoil springs, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, a Gift Certificate from Custom Cam, a Nosepiece and headlight decal kit from Performance Bodies, and a $250 gift certificate from Frankland Racing Supply.  His total was $4932.00   Ken had 2 feature wins in 2007.

 

The 2007 Champion was Leslie Essary.  He received $5400 in cash, a Set of Schoenfeld Headers, 5 sheets of aluminum from Midwest Sheet Metal, a Set of Heads from Brodix, a Custom Cams gift certificate, a Speedway Motors Fuel Jug, a set of Bilstein Shocks, a $500 gift certificate from Frankland Racing Supply, and a Champion’s jacket from Hoosier Tire Midwest.  Leslie’s total cash and contingency prizes for the 2007 end-of-season awards was $8380.00.  Leslie had 7 feature wins this season.  His worst finish all year long was 5th – and this only happened one time.  All other finishes were in the top 4.  His amazing consistency won the championship this year.

 

 

The Race Brothers Show-Me Racin Series paid out over $260,000 in 2007 through race purses and the point fund money and contingency prizes.
