Great Night of Racing At West Plains Motor Speedway

WEST PLAINS, MO (April 19) Saturday the fans and racers were greeted with a mild night of weather and a super race track, much different than the extreme cold of the week before. The Regency Inn sponsored program took to the track right on time.

Winner of the IMCA Modified feature in a shoot-out to the end, after a lap 18 caution, was Brandon Ball of West Plains. Taking second was Shawn Walsh of Ash Flat, followed by Rustin Miller of Houston, Carl Murphy of Caulfield, Matt Barry and Jason Brigman, both of West Plains, Tony Carnal of Cabool, Daryl Hay of Doniphan, Jason Snodgrass of Mtn. Home, AR, and Kevin Collins of West Plains, rounding out the top 10.

Balance of the field included Austin Smith of Mammoth Spring, Fred Scarbrough of Koshkonong, Jerry Croney and Denny Dennison, both of West Plains, Chris Skinner of Moody, Lonnie Evans of Houston, Bill Adams of West Plains, Kevin Salter of Batesville, AR, Carmon Vincent of Moody, Denny Tryon, Chris Piper and Calvin Tribble, all of West Plains, Bobby Skinner of Moody and Brian Judd of West Plains.

Dee Kelly of Birch Tree, made his first appearance on Victory Lane, after winning the Super Stock feature. Taking second was Kevin Collins of West Plains, followed by Clint Seamans of Imboden, Darren Fox of Mtn. Grove, Jeff North of Rogersville, Isaac Keepper of Hurley, MO, Cody Kelly of Birch Tree, Brian Ratliff of Hardy, Bobby Bryant of West Plains, and Tyson Troutman of Houston, rounded out the top 10.

Balance of the Super Stock field included: Carmon Vincent of Moody, Will Love of Batesville, Herman Kelly and Derald Kelly, both of Birch Tree, Steve Sanders of Norwood, MO, Dave Wallace of Theodosia, Andy Collins and Stan Ellison, both of West Plains, Chris Junkersfeld of Pocahontas, AR, Donnie Miller of Houston, and Bruce Sutterfield of Bono, AR.

Kevin Collins of West Plains, won the Hobby Stock feature this week followed by Robert Williams of Van Buren, MO, Dexter Frost of West Plains, Shane Hitt of Birch Tree, John Stiner of West Plains, Rick Cooper of Thornfield, Larry Duke of West Plains, Brock Frost of Birch Tree, Scott Todd of Hardy, Dean Smith of Mammoth Spring, and David Medlock of West Plains, rounding out the field.

The Cruiser feature winner this week was Clifford Collins, II, of West Plains, followed by Sissy Ratliff-Seamans of Imboden, Bill Harden, Mark Doiron and Benny Grogan, all of West Plains, Tyler Newcom of Hardy, Rhonda Gunter and John Zuchowski, both of West Plains and Murrill Pace of Gainesville, MO.

The Youth Hobby feature proved to be pretty much a demolition after the young drivers ran heats for the first time in good fashion. The feature was called, after several cautions, on lap 7 with Ben Piper of West Plains, declared the winner, second went to Dakota Frost of West Plains and third went to A.J. Smith of Mammoth Spring. Only three cars were on the lead lap and several were sidelined. Balance of the field included Kyle Duke and David Harden of West Plains, Chase Williams of Caulfield, Kevin May and Cody Toten of Pomona.

Next week will be the Dillard-Fowlkes Motor Co., sponsored weekly race program. Gates will open at 5 pm, hotlaps at 6:30 pm, with racing at 7 pm. Adult admission will be $8, senior citizens $5, kids 7-11 $2, and those 6 & under are always free.
