Looney Back In Winning Form/Beckham Goes Back To Back at I-44

LEBANON, MO (April 20) - Despite overcast skies and cool weather all weekend long,the chase for the Central Bank Racing Series provided an excellent field of cars and plenty of fast racing action at the High-banks of the Lebanon I-44 Speedway with 2 new faces in the winner's circle for 2008.

In the UMP LateModel division Brandon McCormick brought the field down to the green with Rusty Dukes along side of him.McCormick kept it glued to the bottom as Dukes went upstairs as Larry Jones,Brad Looney,point leader Tony Jackson Jr,Reid Millard and Denny Woodworth were battling for posistions.On lap 4,2-time I-44 champion Looney moved into 2nd place and set his sights on the leader McCormick as Jackson moved around Dukes for third and Woodworth was moving through the pack along with Darrell Mooneyham.Moving through some traffic,Looney was able to shoot around McCormick on lap 7 while coming out of turn 2 in grabbing the lead while Jackson,Dukes,Jones,Woodworth and Millard were swapping spots.
The yellow waved on lap 11 as Dukes came to a halt out of turn 2 as the leaders raced back to the stripe with Looney heading the pack while at the other end of the track a hard crash involving Darrell Mooneyham and Denny Woodworth as Woodworth ended up on his side ending both driver's night.On the restart,McCormick stayed close to leader Looney while Jackson,Jones,Millard,Dustin Mooneyham and a fast moving Trace Westling and Jack Jones were following.

In the latter stages of the race,Looney pulled away to grab his first victory of the season with McCormick,Jackson Jr,Jones and Reid Millard following.

The USRA Modified feature has former I-44 champion Justin Neuman jump out to the opening lead with David Holder running right beside him.Neuman looked to have the field covered until lap 6 when he looped it in turn 1 putting Holder in the lead followed by point leader Terry Beckham II,Bobby Williams and a fast moving Mookie Cunningham.On the restart,Holder went to the top side while Beckham went to the bottom.On lap 8,Beckham powered ahead while Holder stayed close behind as Williams and Cunningham were battling for third place.The caution waved on lap 10 as Cunningham developed earend problems ending his strong run.On the restart,Beckham shot ahead to record back-to-back wins with Holder,Williams,early leader Neuman and Brian Brown at the stripe.

The FactoryStock feature provided some wild close action as Mark Bourey and lonnie Henderson brought the field down to the green with a sidebyside battle was Henderson grabbed the lead on lap 1 while defending I-44 champion Kris Jackson,point leader Matt Brookshire and Dusty Rhoads were fighting for position.John Coats and Brookshire got together on the opening circuit bringing out the yellow and ending both there nights.On the restart,Henderson went topside as Bourey stayed on the bottom as Rhoads and Jackson were battling hard while Clinton Dale was charging from the rear of the field.With a tight 4 pack running up front,Kris Jackson looped it off turn 2 while battling for the lead bringing out the yellow.On the restart,Bourey went around Henderson to grab the lead as Rhoads moved-up to challange Henderson as the dup made contact ending both there nights.on the final restart,kevin Crider had moved into 2nd place while Bourey jumped ahead and became the 3rd different factory Winner this season while Crider,Kris Jackson,Clinton Dale, and Al Thompsom completed the top 5.

The B-Mod feature had Lebanon's Brian Monnahan jump to the lead from his pole spot and pull away early with newcomer Charles VanBoening,Kenny Carter and point leader Josh Woody following.During the long green run,Wody who started 6th on the field ran down leader Monnahan on lap 6 after a side by side battle and took control while spots behind the lead dup were swapping back and forth.Went it was all sorted out,Woody grabbed his 2nd straight win of the season with monnahan,Kenny Carter,early contender Vanboening and a fast moving Tyler Brown in the top 5.

The Bomber feature saw Shawn Winfrey and John Darnell swapping the opening lead top spot back and forth while point leader Joe Francis battled Patrick west for position.On lap 5,Francis had moved into the lead as Winfrey and Darnell continued a side by side battle until something in Darnell's Car let loose and the duo made contact ending there night.On the restart,Francis would find Tim Jones right on his bumper.On lap 9,Jones took over the lead,but Francis came right back to grab control and recording his 2nd feature win of the season with Jones,West,Kevin Morrison and Russell Ireland following.

Robert Dublin won the Rookie feature after Shorty Doublin's car wouldn't start.

Racing continue's next Sat Night in the Central Bank Racing Series point chase in the UMP LateModels,USRA Modifieds,B-Mods,FactoryStocks,Bombers and Rookies as Natures Best Pet Shop is the nightly sponosr.

Gates open at 5 with hotlaps at 6:45 and Racing at 7:30 sharp.

The next Special event will be Sat Night May 3rd when the World Of Outlaw LateModels make there only scheduled apperance of the 2008 Season at I-44.
