SEDALIA, MO (June 9) - The annual event at Sedalia’s State Fair Speedway is always a highlight of the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season. The track provides blazing fast speeds and great racing, but more importantly the event serves as a benefit for the Michael Ross Memorial Foundation, with all proceeds from the race going to the charity. The event on Wednesday, June 11 will mark the 11th annual edition of the race, which will also feature a celebrity modified race.

The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series first competed at the half-mile which is located on the Missouri State Fairgrounds, in their inaugural season of 1978, with Rick Ferkel picking up the win. Entering the trio of events that await the series this week, Schatz is the only driver that has finished in the Top-10 in each of the first 17 races of 2008.

He has five consecutive Top-10 finishes at the track and has three wins on half-miles this season. He is just 37 points behind Schatz, as he chases his first World of Outlaws title.

The native of Elk River, Minnesota has 16 Top-10 finishes in 17 starts this season. Both of his wins this season with the World of Outlaws have come on half-mile tracks, at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida and at the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio.

2007 Race Recap: Steve Kinser picked up the sixth win of his career at the track, and series leading fifth with the World of Outlaws.
The 20-time series champion charged to the lead on the opening lap of the 25-lap event after winning the Crane Cams Dash to earn the pole position. After opening a couple of sizeable advantages that were negated by caution flags, he entered heavy lapped traffic on the 11th lap as Tim Shaffer closed on him and looked for the lead.
After looking to the high side, Shaffer dove low in turn one and took the lead on the 12th circuit, with the pair just inches apart as they negotiated the heavy traffic. Kinser fought right back in the second turn nearly taking the lead on the low side of the track. They continued to duel in traffic for the next several laps, until the yellow flag flew.
After a late restart, Kinser looked low in turns one and two, then high in turns three and four for the lead. On the second lap after the restart (lap 18), he went back to the low side of the track in the first turn to take the lead back from Shaffer.
A red flag with three laps to go, gave Shaffer and Donny Schatz one more chance at Kinser, but a strong restart propelled Kinser to a healthy lead that he would hold for the last three laps of the race.
Schatz made a late pass of Shaffer to earn the runner-up position. Daryn Pittman was fourth, with Jason Solwold rounding out the Top-Five.
