Holder Freezes I-44 USRA Modified Features/Jones Goes Back To Back In Bomber Win

LEBANON, Mo. (August 16) - David Holder of Clearance,Mo made his trip to the high-banks well worth the haul as the "Iceman" and 24 Raceway Moberly point champion ran away with the USRA Modified feature Sat on the fast and smooth racing surface.

Jason Meadors and Holder brought the field down to the green flag with Holder jumping quickly to the top groove and powering away quickly with Meadors finding different racing lanes to attempt to stay with the leader while a great battle between current point leader Justin Neuman and Scotty Allen had developed as this duo raced side-by-side for several laps with another good battle between Jimmy Willis and Mookie Cunningham was behind them.

Out front Holder had his car perfect on this night as he could put it on any part of the track. The battle between Neuman and Allen ended on lap 10 as Neuman pulled into the pits with problems and 2 laps later,Meadors would give up his runner-up spot by also going to the pits as Scotty Allen had moved-up to the runner-up spot.

With the checkered waving,Holder would grab his first I-44 win of the season with Allen,Jimmy Willis,Mookie Cunningham and Sam Petty completing the top 5.

The Bomber feature provided plenty of close racing as 2 time winner and defending track champion Landon Johnson grabbed the early lead with Mike Willoughby close behind on the opening lap.Last weeks winner and point contender Tim Jones who had started sixth on the grid moved into the third place position on lap 3 and began his move to the leaders.Up front Johnson was setting a quick pace as Willoughby and Jones raced for position side by side with jones getting the spot on lap 5.Back in the back, point leader Joe Francis who started at the rear of the field began a charge to the front part of the field.Up front,on lap 9,Johnson came upon a car with a flat tire quickly and Jones drove to the inside and grabbed the lead as Willoughby followed through. On the next lap Johnson got around Willoughby to take back second place but there was no catching Jones as the Marshfield rookie driver captured his third win of the season and second consectutive feature with Willoughby,Joe Francis and Josh Lewis completing the top 5.

The B-Mod feature saw a new first time winner this season as Trent Harrison took advantage of his front row starting spot and jumped to the early lead with Tyler Brown staying close behind followed by point leader Josh Woody.Harrison would jump the cushion a couple of times allowing Brown to get within 3 cars, but Harrison wasn't to be denied tonight as he pulled away with his first win of the season with T.Brown,Woody,Rick Brown and Paul Williams completing the top 5 with some tight racing behind the leaders.

The FactoryStock feature had Doug Crider jump from his front row starting spot and never looked back despite several race challanges from Brian Webster in topping the feature win with Webster, point leader Lonnie Henderson,Tim Riffle, and Kevin Crider completing the top 5.

The Rookies have been having some great racing as Dave Meldrum jumped to the opening lead in his Mopar Car,but an incident involving Jason Brumley and Jeff Brown would give the lead over to a fast moving Joe Aitken. On the restart,Aitken,Tom Powers and Meldrum battled wheel to wheel with Meldrum pulling off the winning pass with only 2 laps to go in taking his third feature win of the season as Aitken,Powers,Brumley and Dane Bartle completed the top 5.

The LegendCars made a special apperance tonight as Park Jones grabbed the opening lead with Jason Rayle staying close behind. With 3 wide racing in the pack,Dave Comer started to make a late race surge as Jones and Rayle battled for the top spot and Comer made it a 3 car race.Rayle would close to a single car behind Jones as lapped traffic starting to play in the otcome.Heading for the white flag,Rayle pulled even with Jones as Comer was coming quickly on the top groove.Heading for the checkered flag,Jones pulled back ahead and became the third different legend feature winner this season with Rayle,Comer,Dave Bauer andCaleb Copher completing the top 5.

Up Next Sat Aug 23 will be the J's Family Dining Season Point Championship featuring the USRA Modifieds,Bombers,B-Mods,FactoryStocks and rookies along with another class to be named.Gates will open at 5 with racing at 7:30 sharp and coming up on Aug 29&30 will be the Big Labor Day Weekend 2 day Larry Phillips Memorial featuring the DLRA/MARS LateModels,USRA Modifieds,FactoryStocks,Bombers,B-Mods and rookies with $7500 to the winner of the LateModel feature.
