Clint Bowyer Grand Marshall for KC Indoor Midget Race Nationwide Champion slated to appear on Saturday Dec.20

KANSAS CITY, MO. (Nov. 25) - 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Champion Clint Bowyer will be the Grand Marshall of the 1st annual "Twas the Midgets before Christmas" inside Kansas City's Kemper Arena. Bowyer will be honored in a ceremony for winning the title on Saturday Night Dec. 20, before racing begins for the second night of racing events at 7 pm.

Bowyer also finished fifth in the 2008 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Bowyer began his racing career on the short tracks of Kansas and Missouri, including winning the 2001 Modified Championship at nearby Lakeside Spedway.

The two-day event on Dec. 19-20 will feature The O’Reily POWRI National Midget Series, O’Reilly POWRI 600 Micro Sprints, Racing Experience Midwest Outlaw Lightning Sprints, Legends Cars, and Dwarf/Modlite Cars. Over $50,000 in purses have been posted for the first automobile race held in the 19,500 seat arena with a temporary dirt racing surface. Other early entries for the midget event include: USAC Triple Crown Champions Jerry Coons Jr., Dave Darland, and J.J.Yeley, along with Danny Lasoski, Cory Kruseman, Brad Kuhn, Brad Loyet, and Joe Boyles. Friday Night's feature will pay $5,000 to the winner, with Saturday Nights first place prize carrying a $10,000 payoff, with $500 to start the feature. Gates open both days at 1pm for practice and heat races for support classes.
