WEATHER WOES CONTINUE FOR USMTS DRIVERS AND FANS WITH LEBANON
SOAKING
LEBANON, Mo. (May 15)
– USMTS fans and drivers just can't seem to catch a break from the weather
gods.
Six events are in the books
this season for the USMTS Casey's General Stores National Tour, but Mother
Nature raised her count to eight Friday night with a rain-out at the Midway
Speedway in Lebanon, Mo.
Throw in the USMTS Southern
Series and the score is now 16 to 12 in favor of the good guys.
The skies opened up just after
completion of the heat races Friday night. Heat wins went to Kelly Shryock,
Brian Bolin, Rodney Sanders and Zack VanderBeek, with Shryock garnering the
AFCO Pole Award by earning the most passing points.
USMTS and Midway Speedway
officials are looking at available make-up dates down the road to complete
the show.
Weather permitting (knock on
wood, fingers crossed, etc.) the USMTS Casey's General Stores National Tour
makes its maiden voyage to the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo., on
Saturday night for a $2,000-to-win event in the rough-and-tumble Bear Tire
Mo-Kan Region.
Pit gates will open at 3:30,
grandstand gates open at 5:00, hot laps begin at 6:15 and the first heat
race is slated to start at 7:00. Local Sport Mods and Legends Cars will join
the racing action for Round 2 of the 6th Annual USMTS Missouri Nationals.
The Springfield Raceway is a
1/4-mile semi-banked clay oval located south of I-44 at Exit 75 to Kearney
