Springfield Raceway Changes USMTS National Modified Date To June 5th

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (April 16) - As the first race of the 2010 season draws closer, the staff at the Quick-Quarter of the SpringfieldRaceway have announced a schedule change with the date of the United States Modified Touring Series Race.

In the original schedule the Baddest Modifieds in the United States were scheduled to be at SpringfieldRaceway on May 15th, however that date has been moved back to June 5th.

"After reviewing the schedule that really wasn't a good choice as the week before the Speedway is hosting a 360 Winged SprintCar event co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Sooner Region and the Winged Outlaw Warriors along with support classes." quoted Jerry Hoffman.

After discussions with the USMTS the date is now set for Sat night June 5th."This should work better for everyone especially the fans as back-to back Special events just really don't fit well." said Hoffman.

Last season in the first ever visit to the Speedway,it was Springfield's Terry Phillips withstanding several challanges from Jason Hughes in capturing the feature win.Huges had won a B feature and came charging hard.

THe locals did very well last year in USMTS events at SpringfieldRaceway as point champion Jackie Dalton grabbed the pole and led the opening 3 laps before Springfield's Jeremy Payne took over the lead and then Phillips as the capacity crowd witnessed 2-3 wide racing all night long.
