MODIFIED MADNESS AT THE VALLEY

GRAIN VALLEY, MO. (April 20, 2010) – It was the invasion of the modifieds – both A & B this weekend as 50 modifieds in the two classes came to race thru the Valley. The grandstands were full as well and the evening’s races left fans appreciating the Mighty Modifieds who put on a spectacular show.

The evening’s featured event – A-Mod racing saw 27 strong competitors race thru 4 heat events gathering passing points towards the feature event.
Passing points are new to Valley Speedway this season. They give drivers starting at the rear of the heats a chance to earn a better starting position in the feature by finishing closer to the front of the heat. Shad Badder and Will Johns earned the front row starting positions with Dan Charles and Dean Wille right on their bumpers. The 27 car pack filled the track with racing action at every corner. Badder led early – in fact to the halfway point while veteran Terry Schultz worked his way thru some tough competition. Schultz was able to slide past Badder on lap 10 and never looked bad taking the checkered flag. Johnny Fennewald raced from a fifth row to finish runner-up and Badder held the third position over Dean Wille at the finish.

Jacob Ebert and Brad Smith led 23 B-Mods to the green flag in their feature event. Unfortunately – 6 caution flags flew before the field got sorted out and green racing ensued. Smith took the lead and showed the way to the checkered as Ebert and Gunner Martin battled behind him. Martin was denied the runner-up spot out of turn four when his car looped while trying to dive low on Smith. Martin would finish 10th while Ebert took second spot with another Martin – Scotty taking third spot. Jeff McNew and Eddie Ingram rounded out the top five on the night.
