ARMED FORCES APPRECIATION AT VALLEY SPEEDWAY

GRAIN VALLEY, MO (May 24) - After several wet weekends - things finally dried out at the Valley and the Stock cars took to the track Saturday night. It was a caution filled night as the yellow flag flew time and again as drivers shook off the rust of those idle weekends.

In the 25-lap A-Mod feature event – Eddie Bray Jr and Kevin Rogers held the top spots thru a couple of early yellows. Josh Stephens was involved in one of those cautions and started at the rear of the field. He put on quite a show coming thru the pack battling Bray Jr and finally taking the front
spot on lap 18. The thrill of victory was short however as contact in turn three send Stephens and a lapped car out of the event – giving the lead back the Bray Jr who went on to the checkered flag. Josh Poe and Kevin Rogers were second and third spots.

In the 20-lap B-Mod feature event – Gunner Martin took the green flag and held the lead at the start of the B-Mod feature but was passed by Tim Eaton on lap 4. Eaton, Martin and Shawn Burns ran 1-2-3 until Martin suffered mechanical problems on lap 7. Chris Martin moved to the third spot on the restart. Eaton would take the checkered with Burns and Martin in tow.

In the 15-lap Street Stock event – Dale Eaton and Chris Reiff waited thru several caution flags before the Street Stockers were able to get to racing action – once the green flag finally stayed out the pair raced bumper-to-bumper and high and low grooves – what looked to be a fierce battle ended suddenly as Eaton and Reiff made contact in turn four – sending Reiff off with a broken racecar. Eaton started at the rear of the field while Bryan Maze led the pack until lap 11 when Eaton was able to regain the lead and take another checkered flag for the season. Maze and Terry Knight would round out the top 3.

The Dirt Demon class ran 12 laps – The previous week’s winner Gary McGinnis started tailback to the field per track rules – but McGinnis didn’t remain there long. As Bobby Raybourn led the field – McGinnis threaded his way thru the field taking the second spot by lap 6. Raybourn and McGinnis then
did battle until the white flag lap when McGinnis was able to take over the top spot and gain his second victory in 2 races. Raybourn held the runner-up spot and Whit Boughn was third.
