Brown And Gustin Top Midway Features As Close Finishes Set The Trend

LEBANON, MO (June 19) - Stoutland's Tyler Brown started the season with what could go wrong did go wrong as early season set backs had him on the trailer early. Talk about turning the season around as the second generation driver withstood several challanges from Lebanon's Jamie Barker to take home his second feature win of the season and closed-up the gap in the chase for the championship.

The Energy Company Modifieds rolled out with rolled out for the 20 lap feature with Barker and Brown on the front row with heat winners Mark Simon and Micheal Stake in row two.As the green dropped,Brown and Barker went side by side until they got into turn 3 where Brown using the middle lane to take the lead with Barker,Stake and Simon following.Eric Tinderholt made an inside pass to grab third from Stake and closed-up on the lead duo.The yellow waved on lap 3 as Stake pulled up high with a flat tire and restarted at the rear.On the restart Brown puled ahead as Barker stayed close behind as Tinderholt began his forward movement to challange the leaders while Brian Webster was coming quickly and moved into forth spot. With Brown setting a fast pace,Barker made several attempts for the lead but Brown was faster coming off the corners.Back in the pack, point leader Wayne Graybeal had moved into the top five battling with Simon's car as Stake who restarted 17th was moving through the field. In the latter stages of the feature,Brown began to pull away but Barker would closed-up the gap but only got within 2 car lengths as Brown grabbed his second feature with Barker having another good run to finish second with Tinderholt,Webster and a fast moving Micheal Stake in the top 5.

The Central Bank FactoryStocks displayed an outstanding feature with side by side racing all night long.2009 Champion bob Gustin grabbed the opening lead with current point leader Tyson Troutman following close behind as Doug rich and Donnie Gennings followed. On lap 3 Gennnigs spun in turn 3 bringing out the yellow.Last weeks winner Ben Solberg who started 11th began his charge to the front and by lap 5 was up to third place as Sundance Keepper was using the high side to his liking and moved into challange. On lap 7,Troutman moved to the lead with Gustin right along side of the leader with Solberg and Keepper running side by side as these 4 cars swapped spots went two wide and sometimes three deep putting on a race worth the price of admission..On lap 11,Gustin got the top spot back from Troutman as Solberg began to show signs of problems with smoke trailing the rear end.A lap 12 caution for sheetmetal stacked-up the field as Gustin set the pace with Troutman and Keepper wheel to wheel and a fast moving Donnie Gennings working the traffic.Gustin would hold on to grab his second feature win with Troutman,Keepper,Gennnigs and Jones completing the top5.

StreetStock feature action had rookie Matt Keeth jump to the early lead with Rodney Yost who was trying for the clean sweep by winning his heat and the dash for cash following.Keeth was setting a fast pace as Yost was being patient in the second place spot with Jack Hamer and current point leader Joe Francis following. On lap 6,Yost took advantage of a small bobble by Keeth and grabbed the top spot as Francis and Hamer continued a tight battle. The yellow waved on lap 7 as Keeth spun in turn 3 bunching the field-up.Yost would lead on the restart as Francis had come from the 11th starting spot to pull on the outside of leader Yost as the duo went door to door for several laps.Caution waved on lap 12 as the Waters Brothers Billy and Brandon got together with Billy's car getting the worst of the battle ending his strong run tonight. On the restart,Yost saw Francis pull to the outside but yost would lead at the flagstand. On the last lap,Yost was going for the win until a small misfire in the ignition caused the car to slow going down the backstretch.Francis took advantage of this mishap and went to narrowly beat yost for his 6th feature of the season with Yost,Hamer and fast moving Keith Cheever and Monk Barker in the top 5.

The Pure Stocks continue to impress the crowd with strong car counts and great racing. Adam Lowrance took the early lead in this 12 lap event with 3 wide action behind the leader involving DeWayne Applegate, Les Hayes, Danny Caffey and many others. Lowrance had opened-up the lead as point leader Kory Barker had moved into second place on lap 4 and began his charge to the front. As the feature went caution free,Barker had slowly moved in on the leader Lowrance as three wide battles were going on behind the lead duo.By lap ten,Barker had caught the fast moving Lowrance and began to apply pressure while Grant Sharp,Applegate and Caffey were swapping spots. As the leaders took the white flag, Lowrance was holding a slim lead as Barker pulled to the insude lane. Out of turn 2,Barker and Lowrance were even as Barker moved to the top spot in turn 3 and held on to grab his third feature win of the season with Lowrance, Sharp, Caffey and Applegate completing the top 5.
The Sportman feature also saw the upset of the night as Bennie Joiner jumped to the early lead on the opening lap with a smooth 3 wide pass.Point leader Ben Newell had charged into the second spot with Clinton Betts following.Bennie Joiner was trying to end his bad luck streak and found the 3 time champion Newell applying pressure. Joiner would lead the opening 9 laps looking for his first ever feature win.On lap 10,Ben Newell beat himto the line but Joiner came back to lead on lap 11 and 12.Ben Newell was able to use lapped traffic to take over the lead as Joiner came right back but Newell withstood the last lap challanges to take his 6th feature win of the season with Jonier, Clinto Betts,JC Newell and Justin Crawford completing the top 5.

14 Year old point leader JC Newell withstood a spirited battle from Tyler Brown to take his 5th feature win of the season.
