Eric Turner Prepares For Busy Holiday Weekend

HERMITAGE, MO. (June 29) – Eric Turner is busily preparing his #99 Rushin Towing/Swaffords Amoco/GRT/Hatfield Racing Engine Super Late Model for a trio of events over the holiday weekend in Iowa and Nebraska.

After a week away from the track, Eric traveled to 24 Raceway in Moberly, Missouri on Thursday night for a Lucas Oil MLRA Super Late Model Series event. Twenty-six entries were on hand for the event, and after finishing third in his heat race, he locked into the feature event. However, Turner discovered mechanical woes on his mount shortly before the feature and scratched from the event.

The team was in action on Friday night at State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Missouri for a $3,000 to win MARS/MLRA Challenge Series event. After winning his heat race, Eric locked into the main event. After starting on the second row he would charge to the lead on the 10th circuit, and would hold the spot until a lap 23 restart when Terry Phillips raced past him for the lead. The duo would swap the lead several times over the remainder of the event on the historic, 1/2 mile before Turner recorded a solid 2nd place finish.

Saturday night found the team in action at Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Missouri for another MARS/MLRA Challenge event. In heat race action, Turner would struggle to a sixth place finish, which left him starting deep in a b-main event.  He would advance to a 3rd place finish, but with only the top two cars transferring to the feature, he was forced to use a MARS tour provisional to start the main event.  In the feature he would charge from the back of the pack to a seventh place finish at the checkered flag.

Eric, who remains the current MARS Late Model Series point’s leader, is preparing to embark on a busy Fourth of July weekend that will see him in action in Iowa and Nebraska with the MARS tour.  On Thursday, July 1st the team will travel to the legendary Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa for a $3,000 to win show.

On Friday, July 2nd and Saturday, July 3rd the MARS tour along with the NCRA tour and MLRA tour will be going into battle against one another in a pair of events at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska and Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa.
