Heated Point Battles At SpringfieldRaceway Continue Sat Night

SPRINGFIELD, MO (August 24) - The Season long battle for the 2010 Track Championships at the Quick-Quarter of the Springfield Raceway will be heading into the final home stretch Sat Night as drivers compete for one last chance before the Season Championships with many different spots up for grabs.

The Budweiser A-Mods battle will go right to the wire as denfending champion Jackie Dalton finds himself in a position he is not used to.Dalton finds himself trailing Mitch Keeter by 16 points and Erik Maggard is coming quickly behind Dalton.Keeter who has been close the last two seasons has displayed a different approach this season and has really picked up the tempo."The new car is really working great,we can not only run the bottm strong, but the car works well on the top groove and last Sat night coming from deep in the field the middle lane was working great.Ed Potts has really helped me a bunch this season and all the crew have worked hard."

Dalton who lost alittle ground after last weeks action said the car just wouldn't come off the corner.Mitch and I both started towards the rear and to see him go like he did,I just tried to stay close. The track was good and the competition was outstanding,it just wasn't our night."Jody Tillman and Brian Grren complete the top 5 while A-Mod Rookie Jerry Lankton has been really strong the last 2 races.

The Reliable Chevrolet GM SportMod chase is very close as third generation driver Sean Williams of Willard holds a 6 point lead over Springfield Veteran Wayne Graybeal.Graybeal cut the lead by 1 marker after last weekends events and with 2 point races left,it is still anyones title.Springfield's JC Morton started racing his GM 602 Crate Motor from Reliable Chevrolet in late June and has been running up front everywhere. He has won the last two features at the Quick-Quarter while also taking feature events at LebanonMidway and Monett.Morton sets third in the standings while a dog-fight for 4th and beyond sees another Crate Racer Billy Dalton has Jon Yeoman Jr,Gary Rodocker,Eric Tinderholt and another GM Crate racer veteran Larry Tindle and Andy Beauchamp following closely in the exciting class.

With a max of 25 points per night for a clean sweep,The Wheeler Metals StreetStocks is ready to crown its 2010 champion as Ava's Jack Hamer holds a 56 point margin over defending champion Robert High of Springfield.Robert has little Brother Randy climbing fast in the standings after winning the feature two weeks ago while longtime area veteran Bob Maggard Sr is still in the hunt for a top 3 finish.Marshfield's Matt Keeth and Springfield Rookie Andrew Neil complete the top 5.

The Legend Cars all season long have been 2-3 wide and the point title championship is the sam as Joplin's Justin Comer goes into Sat Night with only a 11 point margin over Billing's Rob Watson and a 16 point lead over Joplin's Park Jones.Last season's champion Jason Rayle came out to dust off his car before the Nationals to be held in Springfield in October and won the feature event.Rayle has taken this season off to help his family out some with other racing ventures.Joplin's Dave Comer has overcam alot of bad luck and holds 4th place with Webb City's Dave Bauer in the top 5 while Young Gun Tyler Horton of Joplin looking for not only his first win but a possible chance of a season long top 5 finish as Oldfield's Rodney Baird is setting close behind.

The MidWest Modz class has done very well for a first season class in car count and competition also.Webb City's Young lion Kaleb Copher a former Legend driver holds a 44 point lead over 14 year old JC Newell of Stoutland while Bobby Gough of Joplin,Webb City's Trevor Drake who won last Sat Night and collected the Copher bounty money, along with Webb City's David Lynch round out the top 5.

Action will also feature area PureStock Division cars as the drivers only need to bring their track rules to compete.
