Springfield Raceway Ready For Season Opener April 16 Featuring USRA Modifieds And Track Preview

SPRINGFIELD, MO (April 10, 2011) - The 2011 race season opener at the Quick-Quarter of the SpringfieldRaceway is set to roll on Sat night April 16th with Race time set for 6PM.

After a very busy and successful 2010 season, owners Jerry Hoffman and Doug Bland have put together another action-packed schedule with something for everyone.

The Speedway has went back to the USRA Sanction for the A-Mods which means a chance for the area drivers to compete for a nice point fund at the end of the season for both track and National dollars at the end of the season.

Classes competing in the Transport Graphics Chase include the USRA RHS A-Mods,Reliable Chevorlet SportMods,Wheeler Metal StreetStocks,Casey's General stores Midwest Modz,Legends and PureStocks.

The A-Mods who are the main event division at the Speedway will find the competition level getting even higher than before as 2010 track champion Mitch Keeter of Webb City will lead a talented field of drivers going for the points title which goes thorugh Sept 3rd.

Last season Keeter put a halt to Carthage's Jackie Dalton's winning championship stretch at the Speedway by 20 points after falling just a few short the previous season.

With the USRA Sanction-it has attracted interest in many of the 4 state area top Modified drivers including SpringfieldRaceway Regular and Springfield Top-shoe Erik Maggard,Oronogo hard charger Bobby Pearish,Branson top runner and Turkey Classic winner Jody Tillman,Pierce City Young Gun Brian Green,Webb City Top runner Scott Drake and Terry Beckham II and many others so far.

Reliable Chevrolet Sportmod Champion and Springfield Veteran Wayne Graybeal will lead another tough field of racers in the class this season as last season it was the final night before Graybeal clinched the title over Willard's Sean Williams.Springfield's JC Morton,Willard's Gary Rodocker(The Larry Phillips Memorial winner),Midwest Modz Champion Kaleb Copher of Webb City,Springfield's Andy Beauchamp,Reeds driver Billy Dalton,Willard's Andrew Smith,Granby's Jon Yeoman Jr. and a host of others as this classes has become one of the crowd favorites with the 2-3 wide action and many different feature winners.

The 2nd year Midwest Modz class has provided drivers with a budget way of Modified racing and provides the crowd with outstanding racing action.Last season's champion Kaleb Copher is moving up in class and the points runner-up JC Newell of Stoutland will being running a limited schedule at Springfield. This should place it wide open as many new cars are being prepared for this class.Joplin's Bobby Gough and Webb City's Trevor Drake have been strong in racing this season at LebanonMidway and both have showed to be prepared each night.Clever's Gary Krebs,Willard's Lamar Neuman,Webb City's David Lynch,Springfield's Shane Bias and Springfield's Terry Williams really had some strong runs late last season and Halltown's Rich Reynolds seems to have found a groove with this class.Last season over 30 different drivers competed in this newly developed Class.

The Wheeler Metals StreetStocks will have a new champion as last season's titlest Jack Hamer of Ava is going to compete in the PureStock division.Hamer took the title despite only 1 win(the Kuntz Memorial) and several top 3 finishes and heat wins.Late last season Randy High seemed to have things going strong for him as he and brother Robert put together some wins.Veteran Tim Petty of Niangua sounds like he might be competing on a regular schedule at Springfield this season as some off-season rule adjustments have been placed.Front runners Jesse Parton and Rusty Forrestt are moving into the Modified ranks and Nick Whitehead is always running at the front of the pack.Look for this class to be wide open in the title chase.

2010 Legends Champion Justin Comer will have plenty of competition as Dave Comer,Park Jones of Joplin,Billings Rob Watson,Tyler Horton,Bill and Billy Cottrill,Dave Bauer,Aurora's Colt Preunte,Cassville's Rick Nichols and many others provide 3 and 4 wide action on the high-banked clay oval each race night.

The PureStock division grew at the end of the season in car count and many local Springfield drivers will be going door to door each Sat night.

For the Month of April,The speedway will be starting at 6PM and move to a 7PM starting time in May.

PitGates will open at 3PM in April while the Grandstand gate opens at 4PM.Drivers meeting at 5PM and hotlaps at 5:15.Draw will cut-off at 5:30 in April
