WORLEY, SMITH, HARRIS, WILLIAMS AND WOLFMEIER CLAIM WINS AT SFCR

FARMINGTON, MO (May 28, 2011) – After a seven week delay in the action due to Mother Nature, Tommy Worley, Jr drove his Alan Barton Motorsports entry to the winners circle on Saturday Night. With Shannon Burch of Burch Fencing, our feature sponsor for the evening, and a good crowd on hand saw the return to racing to St Francois County Raceway. Joey Boyd would start the event from inside row one with Worley on the outside. Both would drive off into turn one. Boyd came out with the lead only to have it called back. Next time around Worley got the hole shot and went on to win his first feature of the season. One small accident between Jimmy Bridgeman and Jeff Wurst on Lap 3 and a spinning machine of Jeremy Standridge on Lap 14 were the only cautions to slow the event. Defending Champion and current point leader, Jimmy Hurley takes home third place honors. He was chased to the line by Joey Montgomery in fourth and Tim Montgomery completing the top 5. Heat Winners were Boyd, who also took the Dash, Hurley and John Epperson.

Billy Smith and Brent Thompson again waged the war at the front of the A-Modified Division. Smith would take charge with Thompson giving chase. Bill Nickelson, Tommy Worley, Sr and Jeff Asher also did their best to get in the mix for the top spot. Those three raced close for those position only to have Nickelson fall out with mechanical problems and Kent Nations get in for a third place finish. Asher placed fourth and Worley, Sr competes the top five. The event was flagged for debris on Lap 7, Nickelson broke machine on Lap 9 and an accident on Lap 14 between Matt Dotson, Matt Eaton and “Rooster” Griffin. Nickelson, Griffin and Thompson were heat winners on this night. Thompson took the Dash.

B-Modified Division was more like and endurance run as the event was plagued with plenty of yellow flag periods. In the Early going Kenny Kennedy looked as if he was going to run away, hide and be counting the winner share of the purse, while the rest of the field ran for second. That all changed on Lap 9 as the motor let go in his machine. Kenny Harris inherited the lead with Kyle Stolzer in tow. They would finish in the first and second positions. Eddie Gross makes it home in third. Greg Swearingem had his best run of the three race season with a fourth place effort. Greg Price in his first appearance of 2011 makes it into the top five. Harris, Stolzer, and Kennedy were heat winners.

To close out the program on this weekend, The Gateway Vintage Racing Association came out in force. Twenty-seven cars filled their pit area. Brian Wolfmeier will add his name to the list of winners on this night. Cliff Hensley won last years event. With Wolfmeier gaining the win, Dave White, Sr, Jeff Masson, George McClintock and Kerry Buckley would finish in the top five. The feature was heavily contested in the early stages. Joe Hauck looked as if he was in charge as he pulled out to the early lead. George McClintock, and Dave White, Sr had a nice battle for the runner-up spot. Heat winners on this night are Marc McClintock, Butch Graham, Randy Horton and Dave White, Sr. B-Main honors were collected by Mike Bach. For more information go to the
