Fans packed the stands for motorcyclecloseouts.com night at I-35 Speedway

WINSTON, MO. (July 2, 2011) - As the fireworks lit the night sky at I-35 Speedway five drivers had their trophies for winning the feature in thier respective classes. Fans packed the stands for motorcyclecloseouts.com night at I-35 Speedway and the races reflected the fireworks and provided the fans with hot action on the track. 

Chris Wright from Chillicothe Missouri passed Duke Jacobs for the lead half way throught the IMCA Sport Mod feature and cruised to his first win of 2011. Wright was in a tight points battle with last weeks winner Mike Tanner coming into the night. Tanner had a two points lead over Wright but pulled off the track while running in second place. Younsters Anthony Asher and Clay Hale battled up front most of the night and came home second and third followed by Jeff Stotts and Scotty Grenier. Jeff Stotts came from 24th to 4th to nab the hard charger award. 

Trenton Missouri's Alexis Whitney started on the front row and led eleven and three quarters laps of the IMCA Hobby Stock feature. The only problem is the feature is twelve laps. Alexis held off points leader Greg Kuehn before Kuehn finally got by the former Trenton High School Cheerleader and picked up win number eight on the year. Kuehn also from Trenton Missouri tried lap after lap to get around Whitney before making the pass coming to the checkered flag. Whitney held on for second place followed by Mich Ross who came from last to third, Jeremy Turner and Scott Treadwell rounded out the tip five. Ross walked away with the hard charger award. 

In the Grand National division there have been seven different winners. Pleasent Valleys "Flyin" Mike Ryun picked his second win of 2011 joining three other drivers in the class for the win lead making it the most competitive class at I-35. Ryun had a good battle with Mike Taylor Jr. for most of the race before eventually making the pass. Buz Kaster doing double duty tonight battled hard for second, Travis Walker was third, Jeff Smith fourth and Rodney Schweizer whoruns a  Lakeside convertable B-Mod put a hood and fenders on and came home fifth. Jeff Smith won the hard charger. 

The IMCA Stock Car class is ultra competitive. At any given time you could throw a blanket over the top five and tonight the top ten. Kansas City's Kevin Anderson rolled to win number four on the year. Anderson had a great battle with Gene Stigall, Tyler Corkins, Pat Neely, Thomas Roberts and Brad Whitney. Anderson eventually got out front and didn't look back. Anderson was followed across the line by Thomas Roberts, Brad Whitney, Josh Steele and Gene Stigall in the top five. Josh Steele gained eight spots to win the hard charger award. 

Humeston Iowa's Shay Woods racked up feature win number three, joining Darren Shaw for the most wins in the IMCA Modified division this season. Woods passed leader Bud Wilson half way through to get the win. Wilson then battled a returning Steven Glenn but held on to second with Glenn third. Behind them was Colby Dixon and points leader Cory Wray who came home fourth and fifth. Steven Glenn gained seven positions and won the hard charger.
