by: Phillip Wilson - I-35 Speedway Announcer/PR

WINSTON, MO (July 30, 2011) - Fans, family and friends came together tonight at I-35 Speedway to honor the late, great Larry Kaster. And what a show the drivers of I-35 put on in the memory of a legend of motorsports.

In the IMCA Sport Mods Nic Hanes has had some really good runs this year. Last week he finished second to the defending national champ and this week he had to chase down a former Modified and Late Model driver, but to no avail. Randy Ainsworth took home the top honors in the feature tonight as Nic Hanes scored his second straight top two finish with a second place run. After a DQ in post race inspection Scott Vanbuskirk was awarded third, Cam Adkinson with a good run in fourth and Truman Asher fifth. Wes Bestgen started 25th and finished 10th to win the hard charger award.

Bruce Fair of Trenton Missouri won his second straight IMCA Hobby Stock feature and his fourth of the seson passing leader Alex Anderson on lap 4. Fair has been running really good as of late. Lee Farmer had another good run finishing second, Alexis Whitney came in from Trenton cheerleader camp to finish third with Ron Callihan fourth and Jeremy Turner fifth. Fair would also win the hard charger award.

Kansas driver Don Marrs took home the win in the Grand National division tonight in only his third start. Marrs led from the drop of the green flag to the end. Second place went to Buz Kaster, who gave Marrs all he could handle to the checkered flag. Third place went to Mike Ryun who had his four race win streak snapped, fourth to newcomer Donnie Brown and fifth to Curtis Shaner. Donnie Brown took home hard charger award honors.

Fans were treated to a photo finish in the IMCA Stock Cars tonight. Jamesport Missouri driver Jeff Dixon took home the win but not before last weeks winner Aaron Parmer gave him a run for his money. Parmer had the advantage off of turn four but Dixon, who led from the start mashed the pedal down the straightaway to the flagstand and edged Parmer by mere inches. Josh Steele continues his good season finishing third, followed by Kevin Anderson and Jake Cameron. Anderson won the hard charger award.

"Stormin" Steve Starmer of New Hampton Missouri led every lap in route to his first IMCA Modified win of 2011. Starmer had a straightaway lead before a caution would bunch the field up behind him. And on the ensuing restart Starmer would be gone again. Steven Glenn last season points champion would finish second. After another DQ in post race tech Colby Dixon would finish third with Dennis O'Neal fourth and Cory Wray fifth. Steven Glenn won the hard charger award.

Next week August 6th will be the kids bicycle races and more of the red hot racing action at I-35 Speedway!!! For full results and points standing visit http://www.speednetdirect.com/results.php?track_id=8221
