Springfield Raceway Plans Big Night For Rob Burgess Tribute With Show-Me Late Models And $500 To Win Midwest Modz

 SPRINGFIELD, MO (August 17, 2011) - Sat night Aug.20th at the SpringfieldRaceway will prove to be an exciting night od racing action with the 1st annual running of the Rob Burgess Tribute as the Race Bros. Farm And Home Supply Show-Me Racin Series LateModels make their only Springfield area apperance of the 2011 racing season along with the running of the Rob Burgess Midwest Modz Tribute Event featuring a $500 payday to the winner while starting the Midwest Modz feature will pay $100 to start along with a special trophy from Hoffman RaceCars in the memory of the well known Webb City area Sponsor.Garfields Rest And Pub in Joplin and The Branson Landing will be sponsoring the event.

Burgess, a big fan of Stockcar racing and Bowling along with Leslie Floors out of Webb City was a strong supporter to the SpringfieldRaceway and Joplin Area drivers. A Big fan of Modified type racing,Burgess was especially excited about the Midwest Modz class as he saw it grow in only its second season of Racing giving drivers an affordable class of Modified Racing. Burgess passed away unexpectedly in April of this year in Reno,NV at a Bowling Tournament.Burgess helped many drivers at SpringfieldRaceway in some form or another and sponsored current Midwest Modz point leader Trevor Drake,B-Mod driver Scott Drake and USRA A-Mod Driver Mitch Keeter all of Webb City.

The Midwest Modz Rob Burgess Memorial is open to only Midwest Modz drivers that compete weekly in the area tracks.To make sure your eligible to compete in this special event please contact Jerry Hoffman at 417-673-7426.No A-Mod,B-Mod,LateModel drivers,Etc.There will be a $25 entry fee for the car in this points paying race in which drivers will draw for heat races,use passing points and the top 10 will redraw for starting feature spots.

The Race Bros Farm And Home Supply Show-Me Racing Series will find drivers from the 4-state area competing on the racy Quick-Quarter mile dirt oval with 2 former Turkey Classic winners heading the field.Current Sereis point leader and defending champion Justin Wells of Aurora,National Dirt Hall-of Famer Ken Essary of Cape Fair,former series champion Lessie Essary of Crane,points runner-up Larry Campbell of Van Burean,Ark,Fort Scott Kansas veteran Randy Zimmerman,Area Modified popular driver Rex Merritt of Billings,Eric Tinderholt of Lampe,Springfield's Chris Morelock,most recent winner Chad wheeler of Muskogee,Okla., Rookie points leader Brandon Hunter of Ark and a field expected of over 20 plus Latemodel Drivers will do battle.Race Bros has a springfield location on Kearney Street less than 2 miles from the Racetrack.

Other support classes will include Transport Graphics Championship Chase events with the Budweiser USRA RHS A-Mods,Reliable Chevrolet GM Performance B-Mods,Missouri Legends and Wheeler Metals PureStocks.

Grandstand gates swing open at 5PM with hotlaps starting at 6:30 and Racing at 7:15.Admission for this special event is only $15 for Adults with kids prices remaining the same.

The pitgates will open at 3:30 and pitpasses are $30.Local Drivers meeting at 6PM.
