Strong Headlines LebanonMidway modifieds While Newell And Barker Capture Extra $$$ Events

LEBANON, MO (August 26, 2011) - Before a smooth racing surface and picture perfect weather Friday night Aaron's night at the Lebanon Midway Speeday brought more exciting racing action as wheel to wheel action delighted the crowd.

Shawn Strong has had a banner year this season at Midway and Friday night he took full advantage of his banner season by leading all 15 laps of the modified feature from his outside front row starting spot leaving some great action behind him while defending champion Little JC Newell and Kory Barker took home some extra money in the PureStock and Midwest Modz features.

The Modified feature was fast and furious at the start with Strong jumping to the early lead while Tyler Brown, point leader Michael Stake and pole setter Derek Cook close behind.Brown started to reel Strong in with Stake in hot pursuit. On lap 5,Stake got to fast into turn 1 while battling Brown for the second place spot and spun.On the restart,Strong again pulled away from Brown while back in the pack, last week winner Kris Jackson was quietly moving through the field as Stake was picking off cars coming back to the front. The pack was tight as points runner-up JC Newell was moving forward also.Stake was able to use a mid-race caution get close in on Brown and Jackson was in the hunt in the battle for second place as Strong had checked out from the field.During the long green flag run to the finish it was Strong capturing the victory with a fast moving Kris Jackson getting around Stake on the final lap to secure second place with Stake,Brown and JC Newell completing the top 5.

Extra money was up for grabs for the Midwest Modz and point leader Little JC Newell pulled the broom out making the event a clean sweep as he set fast time, won his heat and lead all 15 laps in securing the victory leaving some great racing for second place.Newell got the jump twice on outside pole setter Bobby Gough as 2 time winner Sam Petty and Gough went side by side for the second place spot and points runner-up Rich Reynolds went to battle.Newell checked out from the field as Petty secured himself into the second place honors. With tight racing behind the leaders Newell and Petty the caution waved on lap 14 as Gough spun in turn 3 bunching the field-up.In the 1 lap shootout,3 time winner Earl Muilenburg had moved into third place keeping everyone wondering if he would pull off the last lap win.On the restart,Newell shot ahead with Petty side by side with Muilenburg with Reynolds looking for running room.Newell took home the win while Petty,Muilenburg,Reynolds and Travis Hill completed the top 5.

The PureStocks provided plenty of fireworks with some last lap drama.Fast qualifier Kolt Barker and brother and defending champion Kory Barker brought the field to the green flag wih Kory getting the early lead. This brotherly battled lasted until lap 4 when Kolt moved to the bottom groove to take the lead while behind the duo was a great race with Monk Barker, point leader Matt Young,Tyler Schoen and Shorty Doublin all battling.Kolt stayed up front for two laps as Kory made the move back to the lead on lap 6 as Kolt and point leader Young spun in turn 3.Shorty Doublin ducked into the pits to change a flat tire and joined back.Kory Barker was setting the pace with Tyler Schoen close behind as caution waved on lap 7 as second place running Bill Allen had spun off turn 2.On the restart, Young shot into second given chase to Barker as Kolt was coming back through the field.Going to lap 12,Kolt moved ito second place as leader Kory was getting into lapped traffic. On the final lap,Kory went high in turn 2 allowing Kolt to take the lead.Kory then stayed really high and caught Kolt's car heading into turn 3.Coming for the checkered flag, the leaders rubbed hard into turn 4 as Kory pulled back ahead for the win with kolt Barker,Young,Schoen and Monk Barker in the top 5.

The best feature of the night probably belonged to the StreetStocks with the top cars all together all night long.Points runner-up Trevor Ellingson grabbed the opening lead from his front row starting spot as 3 wide was the call from then on.Early it was Andrew Neil and then Brandon Waters moving into second place while point leader Joe Francis who started sixth tonight moved around along with Brandon Knudtson.Caution waved on lap 5 as last weeks winner Mark Simon and Neil got together forcing both to the rear of the field. With ellingson setting the pace,it was Francis who moved to the outside groove in taking the lead on lap 6 with Knudtson following.Ellingson and Rodney Yost went side by side in the battle for third place as Waters and Robbie High were battling for position. This race provided everyone with excitement as Knudtson was fast except coming off turn 2 where Francis was making the most ground. This feature went green the rest of the night with Francis just barely grabbing the win while Knudtson, a fast moving Yost,Ellingson and Waters in the top 5.

Donnie Miller held off early challanges from former track champion Bob Gustin and then pulled away to capture his second feature win of the season in the FactoryStock class.Miller grabbed the opening lead then Gustin pulled up to challange quickly with point leader Tyson Troutman following.Points runner-up Shawn Whitman hit the wall hard in turn 3 while running in the front pack ending his night early. From there Miller put it on cruise control to secure the win leaving Troutman and Gustin to battle it out for second place honors.Troutman used the high groove to grab that spot with Gustin,Craig Danuser and Mark Davis completing the top 5.

The season long points battles continue Friday night with action in the Modifieds,FactoryStocks,StreetStocks,PureStocks and Midwest Modz with Racing at 8PM sharp.
