I-35 Speedway

WINSTON, MO (September 10, 2011) - As I-35 Speedway
held their annual open night to give drivers the opportunity to shake down
their cars for the 1st ever Show-Me Spectacular, It was a night of
rememberance at I-35 Speedway as we had a special 9\11 intermission
celebration as we remembered those who perished in the terrible tragedies
ten years ago. The drivers responded by putting on a fantastic show as four
of six features went green to checkered. When drivers checked in they drew
for their starting spot in the heat and would line up heads up how the heats
finished in the features.
First was the Sport Mods/Bmods with heat race wins
going to Brett Shields, Gene Claxton and Chris Wright. Brett Shields and
Gene Claxton started 1-2 and thats how they would finish. Claxton would
challenge Shields for much of the race but was unable to make tyhe pass.
Shields pickjed up win number two on the year, Claxton finished second,
Ethan Issacs in his first race at I-35 came home third, Jeff Stotts and
Truman Asher battled for fourth and fifth.
Tim Shields and Travis Walker picked up the two heat
wins in the Grand Nationals and thats how they would finish in the green to
checkered feature race. Tim Shields picked up the win followed by Travis
Walker, Jason Anderson, Tim Billings and Bux Kaster.
Phil Snodgrass and Kevin Anderson won the two heats
in the Stock Cars. Snodgrass led the first few laps before Anderson and Brad
Whitney got by. Whitney would pressure Anderson for the whole race but
Anderson got the nose by Whitney at the line to pick up the win. Whitney
came home second, Snodgrass was third, Bennie Turner fourth and Larry Ferris
fifth in another green to checkered feature.
Nic Bidinger, Zack Sanders and Mark Dotson picked up
the heat wins in the Modifieds. Bidinger would lead the first lap before
Dotson motored by and cruised to the win. After a post race disqualification
Steve Starmer finished second followed by Nic Bidinger, Jim Cameron and Buz
Kaster.
Hobby Stock heat wins went to Bruce Fair and Mich
Ross. At the start of the feature something happened to Ross's car that made
it not want to go. Fair's car went and it went fast! Bruce Fair picked up
another win on the season, points leader Greg Keuhn was second, rookie Alex
Anderson with a good run in third, Matthew Lance was fourth and Alexis
Whitney fifth.
The Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers were on hand with
Keith Simmons, Jack Simmons and Zac Simmons taking the top three spots.
Next week the points hunt continues as we get ready
for the Show-Me spectacular on September 30th and October 1st!!!
