Home Pro In Joplin To Larry Phillips Memorial Special At Springfield Raceway Sept 17th Featuring MARS/MLRA Challange

SPRINGFIELD, MO (September 14, 2011) - Springfield Raceway owners Doug Bland and Jerry Hoffman announced today that the Joplin based popular Home Improvement Home Pro Store will be the title sponsor for the Exciting Larry Phillips Memorial Late Model Special Sept 17 at the Springfield Raceway featuring the MARS and MLRA Super Latemodels.

 Home Pro has alot of racing tradition as owner John Tullis and his family have rich racing roots in the Missouri area as John's father, "Fast" Freddie Tullis Sr. was a many time champion in the 4-state area in Stockcar racing not only at the Joplin area tracks but also at the big 1/2 mile Dirt track in Springfield,Mo.John Tullis himself was a very established racer with father Fred Sr helping him along until his passing.Fred Sr is a memeber of the Ozarks Area Racers Hall Of Fame and went head to head against Larry Phillips many times at the Fairgrounds in Springfield.

 The Running of the Larry Phillips Memorial will feature another great match-up between the Stars of the MARS and MLRA SuperLatemodel Series along with racing featuring the A-Mods,B-Mods,Midwest Modz,Legends and Purestocks.

 The A-Mods will be sanctioned for the National USRA Points chase and will pay $500 to win along with $100 to start while all classes will have added money.Purestock drivers that are competing will need to bring a copy of their home track rules while the B-Mods that race with the 602 GM Performance Crate Motor will be running under a different weight rule that during the regular season.

 A-Mods,B-Mods,Legends and Midwest Modz drivers will need to have the raceceiver as all support classes will draw for heat races and line-up under the passing points system.

 In case of incliment weather,the event will be held on Sat October 1st

 Defending Event winners include Springfield's Jeremy Payne(LateModels),Luke Driskell of Stillwell,Kansas(A-Mods),Gary Rodocker of Willard(B-Mods), and Jason Rayle of Springfield(Legends).Last season the Midwest Modz and PureStocks did not compete in this event while Bob Maggard Sr won the StreetStock version.

 Grandstand gates will open on Sept. 17 at 4:30 with Adult admission only $20 for this special event.  hotlaps will begin at 5:30 and Racing to Start at 6:30PM Sharp. Pitgates will open around 3PM while the local drivers meeting will take place at 5PM.Draw for starting spots on the local classes will cut-off at 5:45.Pitpasses will be $35.
