$3,500 to Win Modified Hog Roast Nationals to Complete 18 Years of Racing at Central Missouri Speedway for Earl and Susan Walls!
By Sam Stoecklin - CMS Announcer/PR

WARRENSBURG, MO (September 26, 2011) - Although the fate of a 2012 race season at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) remains uncertain, one thing is for sure, owners and promoters Earl and Susan Walls will welcome drivers and fans to their track one final time to close out an impressive 18 years of operating the facility.  The last race under the Walls’ direction at CMS will be the Hog Roast Nationals, a race night featuring a post-race hog roast and a big-money event for the modifieds with a whopping $3,500 up for grabs for the winner.  Extra purse money is also on the line for ULMA Late Models while the winning Street Stock driver will go away with $500 for the victory.

Things get underway Saturday, October 1st with pit gates opening at 3:30 followed by an Old Timer’s Race Reunion near the front side of the speedway from 4 to 6 pm.  Drivers from yesteryear will share stories and photographs from days gone by with classic cars also scheduled to be on display.  Admission gates on both sides of the speedway open at 4 pm; hot laps begin at 6 with racing to follow.  Admission prices are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens age sixty-five and over, $12 for active-duty military with I.D., kids ages six to twelve $5, with children five and under free.  All pit passes are $35 and include a dinner plate for the post-race activities.  Fans in the stands wishing to purchase a dinner plate armband for the hog roast may do so by paying an extra $5 at the admission gates.  The hog roast will take place in the maintenance building on the pitside of the speedway once racing is complete.  The meal consists of pork on a bun with sides, dessert, and a drink.  Although a limited amount of tables and chairs will be available, attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to sit in for their comfort.

The 50-lap modified winner will come away $3,500 richer for the win; the race pays $250 to start.  Passing points determine the lineup method for the 50-lap main event with the top 16 passing-points earners locked into the race.  Upon conclusion of the heat races, the final eight starting positions will come out of the b-main or additional b-main events.  A roll of the dice by a lucky young race fan will determine the inversion for the starting field.  Race order and events for all car classes are subject to change based upon car counts.  The lone rule for modified competitors is their car must weigh 2,450 pounds with them in it at the conclusion of the race.  Pre-race entry is $100; same night entry is $135 for modifieds.  There is no track registration fee for modifieds.  Race entry includes driver’s entry, pit pass for the night and a dinner plate at the post-race hog roast.  Call Susan Walls at 816-229-1338 for additional entry information.

With just two races remaining to decide this year’s ULMA champion, late model drivers have a lot to think about heading into this weekend’s CMS race.  Track champion Jason Bodenhamer is still alive in the overall ULMA battle but is in a must-win situation if he is to become the first driver to win a second ULMA championship.  Bodenhamer is no stranger to winning at CMS; however, to come away with the late model victory he will have to ward off the challenges of CMS late model regulars and former winners such as Steve Clancy, Brett Wood, Kevin Coyne, Bob Test, Bob King, Lane Ehlert, and Jon Binning as they stand ready to challenge for a trip to Waterloo Storage Products Victory Lane.  With overall ULMA points on the line, it is also anyone’s guess as to what other late model competitors may drop in on CMS to try and steal the regulars’ thunder.  The late model winner will take home $800; a total of $600 extra dollars has been added throughout the purse.  There is no race entry fee or track registration fee for competing late model drivers.  All cars must comply with ULMA rules, which may be found at www.ulmaracing.com.

The third class of the night will be the Street Stocks.  At press time, 2011 CMS Street Stock track champion and multiple-time feature winner Brian Ziegler was not planning on competing due to a previous family commitment.  Ziegler’s absence opens this race as to who will take away the $500 on the line for the win.  Long-time CMS race fans Chuck and Brenda Withrow have added an additional $300 to the purse for the 20-lap race.  The additional money will be disbursed throughout the field for all feature race starting positions.  There are no race entry fees or track registration fees for competing Street Stock drivers.  The lone rule for drivers is that their car must weigh in at 3,100 pounds with them in it at the conclusion of the race.  Mention of drivers in any class does not guarantee race appearance.  Same night entries are available and welcome for all competing classes.

Tickets to the annual Central Auto Racing Boosters (C.A.R.B.) banquet are now on sale.  All drivers finishing in the top ten in the four CMS division are eligible for points-fund monies and awards, which will be handed out during the CMS awards portion of the C.A.R.B. banquet.  All monies and awards must be claimed at the banquet.  To order your tickets call Susan Walls at 816-229-1338 or Karen Darling at 660-229-0952 or 660-886-3989, no calls after 9 p.m. please.  The banquet takes place Saturday, December 3rd at the KCI Expo.

Doors will open at 4:30 P.M. with dinner at 5:30 P.M., the Award Ceremonies will start at 6:30 P.M. and dancing and music is scheduled immediately after the completion of the awards.  Tickets are on sale through November 14.  Point champions are asked to contact Bob Reber by October 15, 2011 at 816-358-4299 to finalize their awards.
