Thompson, Sidlo & Kothe double up at Red Cloud
By Mike Hughes

RED CLOUD, NE (June 2, 2006) - Race fans got their money’s worth at The Speed Bowl in Red Cloud, NE, as they were treated to double features Friday night, June 2, because of the weather shortened program the previous week. Jon Thompson of Superior and the team of Adam Sidlo & E.J. Kothe of Hastings were able to win both features in their respective divisions during the evening.

Thompson was able to hold off a pair of Beloit, KS, drivers in Tim Watts and Brian Calhoon in the IMCA Modified makeup feature. Brandon Blochlinger and Greg Metz rounded out the top five.

Thompson also picked up a win in the nightcap to score his fourth win of the season at the 3/8-mile oval. He was followed by Metz, Blochlinger, Jordan Grabouski, and Watts.

Campbell’s Troy Attwood picked up the victory in the makeup IMCA Stock Car feature. Jake Bradley was second, followed by Matt Streit, Jared Remus and Jason Smidt.

In the regular feature, which went 20-laps caution free, Josh Hudson of Kensington, KS, was first to the checkers, claiming his fourth win of the year at Red Cloud. Smidt, Cory Struckhoff, Remus and Attwood trailed Hudson to the checkers.

Chase Carraher of Franklin picked up his first win of the season in the IMCA Hobby Stock makeup feature. Mike Shriver was second, followed by Jim Buss, Jeromy Wagner and Wade Wagenblast.

In the regular feature, Jim Buss of Hastings found his way to the winner’s circle for the third time this season at the Speed Bowl. Wagenblast placed second, followed by Delbert Selvage, Shriver and Wagoner.

Sidlo & Kothe scored their two wins in the Cruiser division. They fended off Joe & Jacob Krone and Ron & Kent Duffy in the makeup feature, then beat the Duffy’s and Josh & Vic Jacobitz to the flagstand in the regular feature to notch their fourth win of the season.

Next Friday, June 9, the Dwarf Cars and Mod Lites will join the regular four divisions in racing action, starting at 8:00 p.m.
