All new faces in victory lane at Red Cloud

RED CLOUD, NE (June 9)—All new faces appeared in the winner’s circle at The Speed Bowl in Red Cloud, NE, Friday evening, June 9.

Hometown driver Lonnie Schriner led all 20 laps of the IMCA Modified feature to claim the win. A few cautions kept the field bunched, but Schriner was able to pull away after each restart to score his first win of the season at Red Cloud. Brandon Blochlinger finished second, followed by Tim Watts, Jordan Grabouski and Dwight Housh. Heat race winners were Jon Thompson and Brian Calhoon.

Cory Struckhoff of Kensington, KS, passed Jason Davis in turn 2 on lap 10 of the 18-lap IMCA Stock Car feature and drove away for the win. Davis finished second, while Josh Hudson won the battle for third over Ron Olson and Jared Remus. Troy Attwood and Geoff Jermark won the two heat races.

The 14-lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature was caution plagued, but Ayr’s Rocky Zimmerman was able to lead from green to checkered to claim his first win of the season at the 3/8-mile oval. Jim Buss closed in late but had to settle for second, followed by Jeromy Wagner, heat two winner Delbert Selvage and Wade Wagenblast. Joe McDole won the other heat race.

The 10-lap Cruiser feature went caution free and the top 3 cars stayed close the entire race. Pat & Joe Hersh of Inavale were able to hold off point leaders Adam Sidlo & E.J. Kothe for the win, while early leaders Terry Gradig & Gary Rannebeck claimed third. Heat race winners were T.J. Jameson & Matthew Niemeyer and the Hershes.

The Dwarf Cars and Mod Lites made a special appearance. After winning the heat race, Bud Lee of Salina, KS, made it a clean sweep with a win in the 15-lap main event. Greg Nellis finished second, followed by Brandon Gray.

Next Friday, June 16, will be Coors Night at the speedway with the four regular divisions in action. The first green flag flies at 8:00 p.m.
