Watts, Remus win at Red Cloud

RED CLOUD, NE (July 20)—Kansas drivers Tim Watts and Jared Remus finally made their way to the winner’s circle at The Speed Bowl in Red Cloud, NE, Friday evening, July 20.

Veteran driver Watts, of Beloit, KS, won his first IMCA Modified feature at Red Cloud as he was able to outrun young gun Brandon Blochlinger to the checkers. Dusty Blake finished third, followed by Micaah Johnson and Jim Pearce. Heat race winners were Troy Johnson and Lonnie Veteto.

In the IMCA Stock Car feature, Remus, of Downs, KS, beat last week’s winner Cory Struckhoff to the finish line for his first victory at ‘The Bowl’ this season. Jason Smidt, Matt Streit and Nathan Glendening rounded out the top five. Remus and Jason McCartney won the two heat races.

Mike Shriver of Hastings won his third IMCA Hobby Stock feature. Jared Lewis finished in the runner-up spot, followed by ‘Smokin’ Joe McDole and Rocky ‘Z Man’ Zimmerman. Heat race winners Jim Buss and Jerry Hudson finished fifth and sixth.

Drew Barry & Ethan Vogler of Superior beat heat race winners Adam Sidlo & E.J. Kothe to the wire in the Cruiser main event. It was Barry & Vogler’s second win.

After winning his heat race, Andy Sole of Nelson drove to his 6th win of the season in the 4-cylinder Young Gun division. Jamie Bergmark finished second.

The regular five divisions return this Friday night, July 27. Racing begins at 8:00 p.m. It will be the first night of the 3-night Thunder Series with added money on the line for all the divisions.
