Dawson County Raceway Ready for Action in 2008

LEXINGTON, NE (Mar 19) - Allen Wissmann, promoter for Dawson County Raceway located in Lexington, Nebraska, has the Dawson County Raceway 2008 racing schedule ready. The 2008 racing season will see 12 nights of racing, weather permitting, four of which will be special event nights. The fast 3/8-mile oval will again feature the Modifieds, Stock Cars, and Hobby Stocks, all sanctioned by the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA). The four specials for the season will include two 305 Sprint car visits and two big Modified specials along with the regular classes.

Dawson County Raceway will begin the season with a test and tune day on Sunday afternoon, April 20. The season racing opener will be a special event on Sunday night, April 27, as Schwan's Ice Cream has the drivers "Run for the Cream." The Colorado based Blood, Sweat, and Tears (BST) traveling Modified series will come in and race against area drivers for an increased purse. The BST will return on July 27th, when Dawson County Raceway will present the 2nd Annual Platte River Valley IMCA Modified Shootout. The 305 Sprint Cars of the United Rebel Sprint Series (URSS) will make two visits, first on June 15, then on August 10

On all race nights but for July 20, during the Dawson County Fair, the gates will open at 5 PM, Central Time, and the races will start at 7 PM, Central Time. The races start at 7:30 PM on July 20, and that is the only night the cars will pit on the track's infield. July 20 will also be a big night for the IMCA Hobby Stocks, as it will be a "NAPA Night at the Races" for the class, with NAPA paying the A Feature winner $250. The racing season will conclude on August 24 for Championship Night, which is the final points night. Season ending awards will be presented at a banquet on a date and at a place to be determined.

Grandstand admission prices for the 2008 season will be $9 for adults and $4 for children 6 - 12 on regular nights of racing. During the four specials, grandstand admission prices will be $12 for adults and $5 for children 6 - 12. Children 5 and under will be admitted free for both regular nights and specials. Pit passes will be $20 on the regular nights and $25 during the specials. Drivers may download pre-registration forms and track rules on the Dawson County Fair website www.dawsoncountyfair.com  and go to the Stock Car Races section. Dawson County Raceway is on the Dawson County Fairgrounds along U.S. Highway 283, 2 miles north of the Lexington/I-80 interchange, exit 237.
