ASCS Showdown at I-80 Rescheduled

GREENWOOD, Neb. (April 9, 2008) – The 2008 Spring Showdown featuring the American Sprint Car Series Midwest vs. Northern Plains Region two-night card scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12, at Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway has been rescheduled for Friday, April 18. The Saturday portion of the card will not be rescheduled.

“With the amount of precipitation we have had, combined with the forecasted rain and snow, we felt it would be best to reschedule our show so the drivers and fans would know before the weekend arrived,” said track promoter Ed Kosiski.

“Many of the ASCS Northern Plains region drivers come from North Dakota and Minnesota, and they are forecasted to receive up to 8 inches of snow, making travel for them difficult,” added Kosiski. “In addition, the lows forecasted for those race dates would not be good for the engines or comfortable for our fans.”

The rescheduled Friday show is slated to get under way at 7:00 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. The pit gate opens at 4 p.m. and the grandstands open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets prices are $13 for adults, $8 for juniors 13-18, $2 for kids 5-12, and under 5 are free. Pit passes are $20 for ASCS Members, and $25 for non-members.

Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway is located in Greenwood, NE, between Lincoln and Omaha off I-80 Exit 420, then 0.4 mile north on SR 63 then west. For more information, contact the track at 402-944-2233.

The ASCS Midwest Region is currently slated for 10 nights of action at eight different tracks throughout Nebraska and the immediate surrounding area stretching into Kansas, Missouri and Iowa.

The ASCS Northern Plains Region is set for 14 nights of racing action at nine different tracks throughout South Dakota, Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Iowa in 2008.

The nation's most prominent Sprint Car sanctioning body with 14 different Regions throughout the United States in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, the American Sprint Car Series' (ASCS) 17th year of activity will include approximately 250 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout 28 different states and Canada.
