Lincoln County Raceway Adds Northern SportMods in 2010
by Darin Racek

NORTH PLATTE, NE (March 20) - Lincoln County Raceway will be back in action for the 2010 season, with Ed Milne as the promoter for the second year.  This year will definitely be interesting for Ed, as the season will bring some changes to scheduling and classes.  Because of the large June festival in North Platte, Milne will run two races on Tuesday nights in June.  The first one, June 8, will be the the annual Nebraskaland National Bank Run for The Money, while the June 15 show will be a regular night of racing.  Milne is also planning on having a demolition derby on Thursday night, June 24.  The starting time for that event is to be determined.

Joining the Modifieds, Stock Cars, and the Hobby Stocks on the long 3/8-mile track will be the Northern SportMods.  The SportMod class, a more economical Modified division, has taken the country by storm.  While it may take time to build the class in the area, LCR will be aided by McCook and Lexington running them as well.  All four classes will be sanctioned by the International Motor Contest Association.  The regional Mini-Sprint division has recognized the issue of getting enough cars to one race track and have decided to try to have races on nights that will not conflict with other tracks.  They will race three times this year on the 1/4-mile track.

Weather permitting, Lincoln County Raceway will run twelve shows, not counting the Lincoln County Ag Society's Twelfth Annual Sandhills Shootout on July 19-20.  The season will begin on May 1st, and run through August 21st.  Other than the Tuesday night June shows and the Shootout, the races will be on Saturday nights.  The gates will open at 5 PM CDT, and the races will start at 7 PM CDT.  A practice day for Lincoln County Raceway is pending.

Ticket prices for regular shows will be $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 6 - 12, and free for children under 6.  Pit passes will be $20.  Grandstand tickets will be $12.00 for adults, $6.00 for children 6-12, and free for persons under 6 for the June 8 Run For The Money event.  Persons that had pit stalls last year need to contact Ed Milne by March 31 if they wish to reserve the same spot for this year.  After that, stalls may be reserved on a first come, first served basis.  Lincoln County Raceway uses Raceceivers.  For more information on anything, please contact Ed Milne at 308-530-1578, or 308-532-1274 during business hours. Lincoln County Raceway is on the Lincoln County Fairgrounds on the western edge of North Platte along U. S. Highway 30.
