Another notable achievement: Noteboom is first at Butler County’s Ice Breaker Prelude
By Jim Angel

RISING CITY, Neb. (April 12) – The postlude to the Ice Breaker Prelude looked a lot like those at previous Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events.

Jay Noteboom topped the Friday night IMCA Modified main event at Butler County Motorplex, earning $1,500 for his efforts.

Nate Caruth posttest the fastest lap time of the night and ended in second. Tyler Iverson, Bob Zoubek and Chris Alcorn rounded out the top five.

Jeff Jones led the first seven circuits before giving way to Noteboom, who ran in front to the end of the 30-lapper.

The Rising City checkers were Noteboom’s seventh in All-Star qualifiers dating back to last summer. A special series title and top two-day special event crown also have the two-time All-Star race winner vote eligible for the 2010 event.

Levi Stoakes led the first lap of the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature before Nick Lindblad took command.

Garrett Rech finished second, chased across the stripe by Ole Olson, Alan Rice and Hunter Wergin.
