"Something for Everyone" at McCook Speedway July 29
By Darin Racek

MC COOK, NE (July 21) - The theme for the 2010 Red Willow County Fair is "Something for Everyone", and hopefully on July 29, McCook Speedway will provide just that. It does promise to be an exciting night for race fans, as racers from at least a three state area will come to race for pride, points, and prize money on the action-sized 3/8-mile racetrack. The races are set to begin at 7:30 PM, Central Time, with the gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Four classes will be on hand, all sanctioned by the International Motor Contest Association. Heat races and potential B Features will be run to qualify the cars for the A Features. Lineups for heat races and for the front rows of the A Features will be determined by the draw rather than by points.

Headlining the show will be the IMCA Modified class. The car count for this class will be aided by the annual Modified special in Colby, Kansas on the following two nights. The winner of the IMCA Modified A Feature will take home $700, and anyone starting the race will be assured of $100. The IMCA Stock Car A Feature starters are assured $75 to start, but the winner takes home $500. The winner's share of the IMCA Hobby Stock and IMCA Northern SportMod purse is $200, and starters getting $50. The drivers will also run for IMCA national, regional, state, and track points on that night.

There will not be an entry fee for the cars, nor will there be a registration fee required by cars that have not raced at McCook Speedway yet this year. Pit passes are $25 per person. The admission in the grandstand will be $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6 - 12, and children five and under are free. Advanced grandstand tickets may be purchased from the Red Willow County Fair Board Office. The grandstand gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Central Time. McCook Speedway and the Red Willow County Fairgrounds are towards the northwest side of McCook at the corner of Q and West 5th Streets; north of U. S. Highways 6 and 34 on West 5th St., and east of U. S. Highway 83 on Q St. For more information, contact Dennis McFarland at 308-737-0098.

For drivers and fans that would like a chance to check out the action at McCook Speedway before then, there is a regular night of racing scheduled for Friday night, July 23. These same four divisions will race on that night. The races begin at 8 p.m. Central Time on July 23.
