McCOOK, NE (June 3, 2011) - Rain came as the IMCA 305 Sprint Car A Feature was finishing, and that prompted officials to call the race night off early. The makeup features will be run before the regular show next Friday, June 10, weather permitting. As the program was half completed on June 3, there will be no rain checks for the June 10 show. The gates will open around 6 p.m., and the races will start at 8 p.m., Central Time. The only driver to make any money for the night was Bill Hays of Edison. Although he finished third in the IMCA Sprint Car heat race, Bill had the winning 50/50 ticket. Darren Berry of McCook was the winner of the heat race. Jeremy Frenier of Fort Morgan, Colorado was the winner of the IMCA Modified heat race, passing Brent Bohmont of McCook with a couple of laps to go. Bohmont, who normally gets to the race track near race time, was actually at the track by 6 p.m. That might be the reason for the rain. Two IMCA Stock Car heat races were ran Friday night. In the opening one, Lloyd Meeske of Champion championed the event, leading the entire way. The second heat race had a lot of slicing and dicing before Jesse Taylor of Fort Morgan, Colorado found his way by Casey Werkmeister of Maywood and Dave Plowman of Gretna for the win. The IMCA Northern SportMod heat race wins went to Dawson County drivers. Colton Osborn of Cozad bested the first group to win that heat. Jamey Kennicutt of Gothenburg was the victor in the second one. The makeup feature and the regular feature next week will both be Burger King Challenge events, making it a “Double Whopper” of a night for the SportMod drivers. “The Flying Woodchuck” Chuck Ledbetter of Loomis won his second race in six days, holding Austin Davis of Benkelman at bay for the victory. Ray Caldwell of McCook finished in third.
