305 Sprints to Headline Red Willow County Fair Race at McCook Speedway July 28
By Darin Racek

MC COOK, NE (July 14, 2011) - The theme for the 2011 Red Willow County Fair is "Let The Good Times Roll". And on Thursday, July 28, at McCook Speedway, the fans should have a good time watching drivers from a three state area rolling around the action-sized 3/8-mile racetrack and racing for an increased purse.  The races are set to begin at 7:30 PM, Central Time, with the gates opening at 5:30 p.m.  Four classes will be on hand that night.  Heat races and potential B Features will be run to qualify the cars for the A Features. Lineups for heat races and for the front rows of the A Features will be determined by the draw rather than by points.

Headlining the show will be the new class to the area, the 305 Sprint Cars.  If the Sprint Cars can get 24 or more cars in the pits, they will run for $1,000 to win.  To help obtain that number, drivers may bring cars with either the IMCA 305 Sprint Car engine package or the URSS 305 Sprint Car engine package. The non-IMCA drivers will not be required to purchase an IMCA license for the night.  The URSS Sprints are racing in Colby, Kansas the night after, and this show may convince them to come north or east a night earlier.  The IMCA 305 Sprint count could be aided by the fair races in Norton, Kansas that weekend as well.

The IMCA Modified class is also heading to Colby for their annual big event perhaps some of them will stop by as well.  With a ten car field, Modified drivers will be racing for $500 to win.  IMCA Stock Cars will race for $400 to win, and IMCA Northern SportMods will race for $200 to win.  Those numbers are also based on a ten car minimum car count.   The IMCA drivers will also receive national, regional, and state points, with track points to be determined.

There will not be an entry fee for the cars, nor will there be a registration fee required by cars that have not raced at McCook Speedway yet this year.  Pit passes are $25 per person. The admission in the grandstands will be $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6 - 12, and children five and under are free. Advanced grandstand tickets may be purchased from the Red Willow County Fair Board Office. McCook Speedway and the Red Willow County Fairgrounds are towards the northwest side of McCook at the corner of Q and West 5th Streets; north of U. S. Highways 6 and 34 on West 5th St., and east of U. S. Highway 83 on Q St. For more information, contact fair board member Jay Schilling 308-340-4201 or track promoter Jerry Bantam at 785-871-7581.
